It’s really painful to see Overhype and extrapolations beyond belief.

the best person to ask is Tom Cooper, but for some reason this forum and his has issues with each other.
but i am sure i saw somewhere Mirage F-1s were modified to fire R73s

South African Mirage F-1’s. That’s the one can fire R-73.

Dunno about Iraqis or Iranian Mirage F-1’s

The 949AM project (being worked on at Zvezda) has the Granit replaced by 3 Onix/Kalibr/etc per silo.

They are already modernizing the submarines, work started some time ago.

oooh this is good news.

Though well i hope those “plug ins” are optional. so granit can still be fitted there.

Or..perhaps anti carrier operation is no longer a priority for Russian navy.

I heard that there was a plan to modify the SM-225 launcher onboard P-949 Antey with “plug in” that contain 3 oniks launcher. and other upgrade program that improve safety by adding another escape pod in P-949’s rear compartment.

I wonder if those programs really underway..or they’re still remain in papers.

Serial modernization of the Il-76MDM will begin in 2016.

Meanwhile, modernization of An-124s has stopped, partially due to issues with D-18 engines (obviously due to break of contact with Ukraine). Illyshin is working to restart modernization.

ouch… and i guess PS-90 are simply not cut for this.

BTW anything on the R-77-1 missile ?

It’s kind of worse as it make no distinction between the 5V11 Dal and 5V21 missile family.

still incorrect. There are better sources at pvo.guns.ru or SAMSimulator software. This is from “Fakel’s Missile” about S-200 and 5V21 missile family (5V11 Dal were made by Lavochkin)

Excerpt from Fakel’s missile book.

All mention Semi-active radar homing… none about active radar at all.

FGFA saga is ongoing, contract for 154 frames is expected in November during a visit from Indian delegation. Two-seater version might be back in the plans.

can’t wait to see it’s official concept art 😀

Well the US weren’t too confident about the ability of the SR-71 to avoid SA-5s, which is why they always skirted the peripheries of the USSR. I think that SR-71 just got very lucky and don’t forget the SA-5 had an ARH head unlike the SA-2, so in similar circumstances an SA-5 would probably score a direct hit, making the proximity fuse irrelevant.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-200_(missile)

As far as i know S-200 only use SARH Guidance.

The wiki article might got it mixed with completely unrelated 5V11 “Dal” (SA-5 Griffon) Dal do have active radar homing guidance with mid-course update, but not the 5V21/5V28 that current S-200 use.

So any Iranian member here can give insight :3 ?

Would love to see some insider information on the requirements.

That f-16v is obviously a retrofitted aircraft, not a brand new one. Looks like a foreign owned aircraft, with no usaf roundels and signs of painted over roundels on wings and rear fuselage. A Taiwanese air force aircraft perhaps?

well..searching in F-16.net database indicate that serial number 93-702 was F-16 Block 20 for Taiwan.

That one might be Taiwanese Falcon.. Upgraded with AESA.

Whatta heck…Damascus has become a pile rubble ?

This is a catastrophy.

Not all of it.

Joubar is only part of Damascus.

Their air intake isn’t efficient at very high speeds either….

i think subsonic speed doesn’t need those fancy multiple shock inlet as those in fighter jets.

Basically the reason I posted the map- not with the intent of getting the thread bogged down in further political discussion.

Hmm how long you think Russia would be able to sustain this campaign ?

is 1 year too optimistic ?

There are more sound aerodynamics in my toaster than on many of the innovations depicted above…

Should I write a proposal out of this?

Looking forward for it.

I don’t know where your design comes from but LMs F35B is said to be carrying “dead weight” and these designs are carrying “dead weight”, but unless we carry the means of vertical propulsion whilst in the horizontal we are stuck with long runways.

UK MOD Novel Air Concept
LM Various

Well if one’s goal is to minimize “dead weight” Which is associated VTOL machineries (rotors, ducted fans, 2nd engines) Then the optimum and most realistic solution would be that Tailsitter, like the UK-MOD Concept and LM-Sikorsky concept you posted.

The risk however is of course one cannot really do hover, at least not without any mechanism to deflect the propeller upward.

——–
My design above however was my own idea based on the old LHX “X-wing” rotorwing concept. Except that mine got its own separate wing thus no need to compromise airfoil for hover and forward flight.
