Now, that would have been an extremely stupid thing to do. Running away and leaving the oil fields just like that?
Much more than the Basrah incident I am using the witness reports from people living close to the Golden Mosque or reports from the former killer squad members.
There is one way. To keep civil war outside of the Shiite territory.
I think even the most stupid one would see that Iraq has had no chance to become a liberal democracy. I don’t think that anybody gave this idea a second thought. Every sane person who would want to profit from Iraq would do one single thing – to close a pact with local Shiites, logically the most powerful and influental group in Iraq. The pact could be pretty simple – Shiites get their revenge and a much larger share of oil money than they would ever have gotten under liberal democratic Iraq. Americans get their much needed war (read yearly $120 bn extra to the defense budget), exclusive oil contracts and assurance that Iranians would be left out of this matter.
This is exactly what I would do. And it fits the picture pretty nicely, at least so far. As the time passes by, I get an impression that Shiites are trying to cheat a bit, the oil supply is lagging behind the schedule and the whole thing is getting a bit from under the control, but that’s life, sh!t happens.
All in all it would make quite a nice little plan with thick winnings included. And, BTW, large profits have already been made. the loser side being American public, education, civil science, healthcare etc. Who givs a damn? You were ***edited *** and you even cheer up and applaud. That makes you my dream voter, sealord. :p
Iraq has every chance to become a liberal democracy, there is no reason at all why it cant.
You can do better than that flex, still nothing there whatsoever to suggest that a Civil war in Iraq is a good idea, although once againt some ignorant amusing little tit-bits, my favorite this time is ‘keep the civil war away from the Shia areas’, pure comedy nonsense from, utterly impossible (seriously you should go to Baghdad- you would learn an awful lot) not to mention the fact that any civil war between Shia and Sunni would automatically result in them attacking each others ‘areas’ not that they are even that clearly definable.
Then of course the whole Sunni awakening smears further excrement over you pointless hate fueled ranting, supporting Sunni militia is hardly going to allow the US to befriend the Shia is it? You should also try looking at the reports from Sunnis about AQ as they further destroy your absurd accusation that AQI does not actually exist. Everything that has happened in the last twelve months proves you wrong (becouse you are wrong).
The fact is that you can not control the supply of oil out of an Iraq in civil war and that a liberal democratic Iraq would fulfill every single US policy aim.
You are just blindfully paraphrasing the official agenda presented on Fox News. What evidence do you have for this claim?
Endless efforts to quell the violence, actually reading the US Army COIN manual? If the US wanted Iraq in flames they would have just left in mid 2006 and been done with it.
What amuses me is that you try and use the SAS/Basra incident to justify you absurd claims that the ‘west’ is trying to start sectarian violence when Basra is almost entirely Shia!:D 😀 😀
And you have still yet to explain how Iraq in civil war would allow the US to secure the oil supply. The ironic thing is that the one thing you refuse to admit that the US is doing is actually the thing that is most likely to satisfy all the aims you claim America has. A liberal democratic and stable Iraq would allow a secure flow of oil (from the worlds second largest reserves) which would help slow the price increases, probably allow the US all the basing in Iraq they wanted (without being bombed) and maybe even create a state with moderate views toward Israel (ie accepting its right to exist whilst pushing for a Palestinian state).
The F-15’s were always going to be upgraded, the Typhoon/Raptor purchase is an F-4 replacement.
Japan is likely to opt out of the Typhoon or any other new aircraft deals because they have decided to simply just update its F-15 fleet.
I did find these great 3-D impressions of a Saudi Typhoon on the other hand..
Wrong, Japan has simply postponed its F-4 replacement program. The hope seems to be that in the meantime the US will change its mind on the Raptor. However a few more delays and the Japanese will be entering F-35 territory in terms of time scale.
Excellent pictures Ken thanks for posting!:)
Just a quick question, according to Janes strategic weapons the Tu-22M would have been able to carry eight Kh-65/Kh-SD, I assume that that would be 2 on each hard point is this correct?
The Australians decided against buying TSR2 before it was cancelled. (October 1963)

The Vulcan may have continued as the TSR2 was designed as a tactical aircraft
The Australians decided against the TSR-2 becouse of the utter lack of faith put in it by elements of the British establishment. Had the political will and money been available to keep the project alive the requisite faith would have been shown and the RAAF would likely have not been persuaded against the type.
The only thing tactical about the TSR-2 was the usage of the word in the name, to all intents and purposes this was a theater bomber. If the RAF’s V-force is no longer planning on making nuclear penetration missions into the Soviet Union beyond the range of the TSR-2 then there is no reason for it to still exist.
The purpose of the bizzare set of rules is to give the idea of a genuine challenge/race. What would be the point of the Typhoon racing the Veyron to Norway?;) I was under the impression that Typhoon won this one.

Thanks Jai.;)
What really warms my heart is a simple fact that for your laughable conspiracy theories about Al Qaeda you have provided enough evidence to be awarded a lifetime membership in the Tinfoil Hat Club. Come on, don’t be so humble, you truly have deserved this..
Just one simple request of me: next time you talk about Al Qaeda in Iraq again, please don’t skip the story about them and the tooth fairy, that is my favorite part.. :p
Coming from the guy who thinks that it is possible to control the oil supply from a country in civil war that is just pathetic flex. What next, high crime rates are the symbol of a healthy economy? You have shown you have no idea about COIN tactics and completely ignored the fact that the whole purpose of the surge is to stop the violence.:D :p
Name the airplane in any Scandinavian or European country’s Air Force which carries 8 PGMS and 2 BVR missiles as its standard loadout.
All the PGM’s and BVR missiles in the world wont replace the A-10, ask anyone who has called in CAS in Afghanistan.
Suits you well to say that, you taunt flex time and time and time again while providing no argument whatsoever, and then when he finally gets upset at you (I give him credit for that to take a long while), then you accuse him of doing what you’ve been doing for countless pages…
Now where’s my popcorn
flex has provided nothing but rambling ludicrous nonsense without evidence, the fact that you can not see that may explain where your popcorn is.:p
Piotr Butowski’s article in Air International December 2007.
Its definitely the Kh-57, which would have longer range compared with the Kh-65 – in any case both were canceled.
Yeah is would be NK-32 engines….
OK thanks Peter but the Kh-57 does not register anywhere?
This is not a legal court and people here are not under oath. Everyone can freely present his opinions, his hypotheses and his theories.
Let us look at you, in return. What claims of yours in this thread have you actually proven? None.. A big fricking zero.. So crawl back to your plywood cottage and shut up.
Dont get upset flexy, just becouse every single one of your claims has been shown as ludicrous tripe it does not mean that you have to resort to the above.
The canopy of Su-35 is metalized, maybe the same way as in F-22. The first stages of copressor blades are specially treated. There are some applications of RAM over the entire plane.
The big question is – the radar antenna. A plazma inside the nose cone is seriously considered, but there is not enough information at that moment.
All the things that have been talked about for the Su-35 could have a massive effect on RCS, the plasma radar radar shield, improved construction methods, treated engines, RAM etc. However it is worth noting that not all of this may have made it on the plane, for instance when the type was initially announced it was said that it would have a rear facing radar, that had mysteriously vanished by the time the real thing appeared.
On the issue of the Irbis ability to detect stealthy targets, well it would make sense for the Russians to have been working on A2A radars with the ability to do such things since the late eighties at least. The reality is that we will probably never know what the real capability is.
