Then I’m not sure why you had difficulty understanding them – or are you implying your comprehension level is pre-nursery? Sorry, I can’t translate my posts into baby gurgles. 🙁

Stop me if I’m wrong, but I was under the impression the RAF wanted V/STOL. You’re not trying to argue that the RAF chose a more expensive plane that was not what they needed, are you?

Besides, what is “a relatively small amount of money” and how did you come to that estimation?

And the Royal Navy can live with the F-35B.

You seem to miss the point of the show. Everyone who appears on it comes out looking stupid – that’s what comedians do. Just about everyone gets taken the micky out of. The military doesn’t have immunity from being mocked. Indeed I’m glad that we live in a country where they’re not above being made fun of.

You seem to miss the point of civilized discussion, so what do you expect me to do about it? However it would seem that you have missed the point of it, it is not simply a comedy show but one about serious political issues, you clearly did not see the sketch or you would understand what I meant.

I doubt that airframe cost wise there would be little if any difference in terms of cost (last time I saw any figures it was only about $1 million per aircraft difference between the B and the C), the saving comes from not having to install catapults on the CVF. The RAF could live without any F-35s, whats your point? The navy in the other hand would be better suited to a more capable aircraft.

With regards the aircraft, yes it would be nice if the RN and RAF could each buy 100 F35’s each, but with what money? There will be problems affording 135 combined and unless they make major cuts elsewhere there won’t be large additional orders. With a fleet of that size then a joint force makes the most sense IMO. On the CTOL-STOVL configuration, that argument will run and run but it is nothing like a straightforward argument either way.

Its a very straight forward argument, for the saving of a relatively small amount of money the RN and the RAF will be saddled with a less capable aircraft than they could have otherwise had. The RAF could live without the V/STOL capability.

Did anyone see the TV show Bremner, Bird and Fortune this evening? They had a sketch with a fake admiral talking about the aircraft carriers, whilst slightly amusing it was a classic example of the disconnect between the public and military and defence matters which left the RN looking rather stupid.

Well I do assume that I am talking to adults who can understand what I write. If you want to I can break my posts down to primary school level so you don’t get confused next time. 😉

In fairness that would be an improvement from their current nursery school standard.:D

But that’s isnt what Ed was talking about.

He was complaining because of a lack of support ships and planes to fly from the carriers. I responded that we’re not even at the stage where we could expect them to be ordered.

Maybe it would help if you bothered to read people’s posts carefully before you typed a response.

Maybe it would help if you bothered to type coherent responses, qouting statements about planes then expect people to realise you are talking about support ships.:p

Just like Gorshkov price issue. Making statements without substance. Russians arent scared. they have 60% positive view of China.

offcourse they will make laws that can be applied for various purposes. (read georgia).

    Stop posting here.

Except that the latter would cost more. :p

The argument over planes and support ships is so tiresome. Armchair admirals discussing something that we have no hard information over.

This is the defence version of the silly season – no news so people are inventing it. And yes, complaining about a lack of planes and support ships when neither are at the “need-to-be-ordered” stage is inventing something to talk about. I do wonder if some people here have more time on their hands than is good for them.

There is plenty of hard information, compared to the F-35C the F-35B has less range and smaller internal weapons bays.

I said that your country grew out of religiuous nutcases….bit difference there in the words, dont you think.
Other big proplem with you is that you take out of words out of contest and then make some sort of accusation out of them and stick to it, despite how ridiculous it makes you look

Or maybe you need to clarufy your comments, either way you are wrong.

i feel the model’s weapons load-out or the under-wing pylons takes up the whole wings!!! and the pylons seems very draggy (particularly for the heavier arsenals). i think it’s overkill how the weapons load-out representation shows from the model.
don’t get me wrong, the Fulcrum has been one of my favourities but…

I think that loadout is only meant to be representative of available munitions, it has that classic ‘one of everything’ look about it, rather than a real combat load.

The conformal laser designator pod is there, it’s just hidden almost completely by the display stand. You can see the forward part of the fairing just behind the aft end of the inboard LGB on the starboard wing.

That looks more like the starboard tail wing to me Trident.

You know, lawrwence, your biggest fault is that you cannot see that I dont ever post here by basis of my personal fears/obcessions/by the bone principles or other feelings that would made me angry. I Have managed internet discussions at least that much that I know nothing good comes when people starts to take these things too seriously. You know it yourself, I dont have to count the times when GA or other mods have needed to edit your post when you go ballistic and overboard when others have had the healthy grin upon their face:D 😀

You called Americans ‘religious nutcases’ that is xenophobic and bordering on racist, not funny.

I have always been in two minds about speed cameras. Firstly they only punish people who break the law, after all that is what speed limits are, the law. However the money element of this certainly raises the specter of them being used as a form of taxation rather than realistic safety devices. If you factor in that they punish only speed and not all the other forms or stupidity that can be witnessed on roads, serious questions have to be asked about their effectiveness.

Furthermore, when was the last time the speed limit was raised? Modern roads and cars are far more capable of maintaining higher speeds then vehicles from even ten years ago. For instance I regularly used to drive from Leeds to Hull along the M62 (I think that was what it was called), a fantastic very modern motorway on which it was easily safe to drive at at least 80mph if not more, even when driving at 80mph on that road it was very rare that I would ever over take anyone and would always see cars stream past me!! yet I never saw any trace of a dangerous situation.

Of course at the other end of the spectrum there are roads classified as 30mph where one would be lucky to do 20mph and would still frequently have to stop in order to avoid the ubiquitous football in the road.

It thus seems that what is needed is a comprehensive review of all the UK’s speed limits and a recognition that speed is only one of a very large number of factors (almost all associated with human error/stupidity) that make roads dangerous.

Here is another picture of the model from the front.

Also does anyone know why they changed the vertical stabilizers form the typical Fulcrum ones?

Is it just me or does that model seem to lack the under engine pods of the OLS-35 optical system that we see on the current Mig-35?
