Welcome to the RuAF MiG-29SMTs!
Ex-Algerian models.

According to Serghei Bogdan, the Sukhoi test pilot, it barely go >1M and there is no mention of any load. So, sorry, until now there is no real supercruising Su 35…
According to him huh? Really? Where?

Yaroslav Mudry (Neustrashimy class frigate) seems to be nearing service!

and even that was intentionaly ,they could have been conserved very well ,but now migs have been redused and soon erased from ruaf inventory, and the chief of mig has become trough a fantom united corporation ,who else but the suhoi leader-
mr. pogostick. terible ,terible and unthinkable things ,now sukhoi makes fighters ,bombers ,civilian jets, and else things…i predict diverse rusian aircraft industryes to disapear very soon.:(
The original “MiG” and “Sukhoi” are long gone.
The UAC isn’t a bad idea, sort of like many of the US companies have merged.
Tupolev and Sukhoi as part of the UAC can handle any kind of aircraft, not to mention MiG’s employees can work for Sukhoi.
Then you have Ilyushin Bureau, what’s left of Antonov (might as well move to Russia, IMO, Ukraine isn’t really much of a place for a development bureau).
That choice not to upgrade was not made willingly but rather unwillingly through cost grounds.
I think the most accurate answer is “both.”
One due to a limiting budget, two due to other priorities.
The RuAF must disagree otherwise why would they claim those numbers and try thier best to achieve those numbers of Mig-29s operational, they need them and they know they still have a mission.
Well the Russians didn’t choose to go through with a domestic SMT upgrade, so it’s no surprise that there’s a chance that many of the jets aren’t in full operational capability.
They really need to get their Glonass GPS sorted out too, from what I read it was basically useless in the Georgian conficlt and they were damn lucky the weather stayed favourable otheriwse it could have been very different.
GLONASS needs 3 satellites more to become fully operational I think?!
They are finalizing the latest hybrid of the satellites, and will launch them this year AFAIK – then the whole system will be world ready.
Approx 7 year for the USSR to introduce from first flight.
Now with no funding issues for the PAK-FA, and greater technology access , I wouldn’t see why approx. 4 years for deployment could be seen as “impossible” or even “unlikely” – I’d say, serial production after 4-5 years to be quite likely.
Hmmm … and who always said the PAK-FA-MKI wont be delayed ??
2017 … not very optimistic 😮
Deino
Not optimistic for the Indians, the Russians obviously give themselves full priority, hense the half-decade earlier delivery time.
The big loser in that case would be Russia. Titanium is a raw material which can be sourced from elsewhere, the U.S components in Gripen are fruits of U.S R&D investment, there is a considerable difference.
Titanium is that quantity isn’t that easy to come by.
Soviets weren’t the only nation to build Titanium submarines for a reason.
The RD-33MK is very much TVC, or at the very least can easily accommodate it. From Klimov’s site:
And from MiG’s site:
That info looks sound.
Thanks for the clarification 🙂
I’ve heard practically nothing that references the MiG-35 without mentioning its 3D TVC. In fact half the people I’ve come across call it an evolved MiG-29OVT in the first place.
Are you certain? I’ve seemed to come across sources that suggest the RD-33MK “Morskaya Osa” – which AFAIK isn’t TVC of any kind.

MiG-35 to be powered by 3D TVC engines?
That should be interesting. Wonder if it could be bad journalism.
I assumed:
1- (Su-27BM = Su-35BM = T10BM)
2- Su-27SM = Old airframes upgraded with radar and fly-by-wire system taken from the Su-35BM. Next modernization program of the current Flanker fleet.Am I wrong?
The Su-27SM doesn’t use anything from the Su-35BM AFAIK.
The radar is going to be a PESA upgrade .. PERO? With basically full Russian A2G arsenal capability.
New engines yes (more thrust Al-31 .. Al-31FM I think)
Digital FBW also.
As the Su-27SM upgrade is still ongoing, I’d say whatever units they upgrade they will keep till the end of their service lives. Their time in service should increase with the SM overhaul, part of which is newer engines of course.
