Where did I say they were getting any more than those already planned?

Your response was to a response by me regarding people fantasizing about getting hundreds more Raptors, so I responded with the original idea / response in mind. If you catch my flow 😀

It’s not like BACKFIREs aren’t large radar targets or anything…

Both of those are absurdly stupid ideas. No ICBM is going to be anywhere near close enough to Cuba to be shot down by a GAZELLE site (GORGON is no longer operational). Topol-M? To do what, fire at Hawaii? Topol-M TELs are large, identifiable vehicles that won’t be that hard to locate. A better idea would be low-altitude, high-speed cruise missiles (Meteorit derivative, maybe), or an IRBM. Smaller package, more survivable, harder to locate.

If they really did want to make a statement they’d just put two S-400 batteries in Cuba, one at each end of the island. The portion of the airspace they’d effectively be able to close down would be huge.

Except for the F-22s being currently procured…and the F-35…and a new bomber around 2018…and more C-17s…

Yeah, and 10 Bombers means a hundred more F-22s. Are you thinking about this?

Considering the SS-20 is out of service, the SS-27 makes the most sense. . . Since it’s designed to avoid ABM defenses. . . which is kind of what this whole debacle is about . . .

Unless they want to shoot Florida with the Iskander . . . if it even reaches those last few kilometers. . . You are taking this stupid thread too seriously 😛

The USAF isn’t going to get anything while their fleet of F-15s and F-16s is still around. . .

You know, if you listen carefully, I think that you could still hear them partying in the Pentagon at this news.

Lets face it any airfield in Cuba operating nuclear capable Russian bombers is going to be saturation TLAM’d and CALCM’d to death very early in any strategic escalation so the actual threat presented by a couple of squadrons of Russian bombers exposed on Cuba is minimal. The shock value of letting the populace know that winged death is sat just across the water waiting to be unleashed is going to authorise many, many more Raptors!.

You sure this is a genuine Russian news piece?

Right, and TLAMs and CALCMs are invisible, and can’t be shot down right?

Also, these bombers can’t fly patrols right?

It could prove quite effective, though this is almost certainly not going to happen.

What is the specs of Vulcan AshM and when did it get operational ? How man submarine and ship it is operational on ?

Any pics will be nice as well

    http://www.dtig.org/docs/Russian-Soviet%20Naval%20Missiles.pdf

It’s basically an upgraded Bazalt, and is supposed to look like it. It was supposedly fitted to Echo-II class submarines, but is also rumored to be fitted on the Varyag.

It is lighter due to titanium armor, increasing its maximum range to 700KM, with the same 1000KG warhead of the P-500. Supposedly also has a passive anti-radiation mode.

Speaking of which, wouldn’t that be interesting if they would end up stationing some Su-35BMs or even some PAK FAs in cuba to support the bombers?

They might as well annex Mexico while they are at it . . .

Yes yes but cue on the fanboys talking about how one F-22 can take out 57 regiments of Backfires and their cousins. . . or what not. . .

They might as well put up a Gorgon/Gazelle ABM site up on Cuba, and a few Topol-M launchers . . .

No it says that Masorin talked about the headline, there is nothing to attribute the bit about Bulava’s parenthood to him at all and if there was you would have produced a direct qoute by now instead of your usual trick of resorting to blind insults.

There is no direct quote unless you dig up exactly what he said on the day this information was given to the press.

There are multiple sources they say this, on different occasions too. Why are you even posting?

“Admiral Vladimir Masorin, commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy, said the Bulava-M (SS-NX-30), a naval derivative of the land-based missile Topol (SS-27), had been approved for mass production.”

Oh no! Something quoted from Jane’s say the same thing.

There is no evidence in that report that that comment came from an official source, it is not a losing battle but one that I have already won. The article does not even suggest it is an indirect qoute, the only thing it actually attributes to him is the headline. Find a direct qoute or go away.

Your basic reading skills are failing you as always. Go read read the part where they say Masorin said X.

Where X has apparently been made up – and is a puzzle for armchair military analysts to unlock and unravel, to make themselves feel better. . .

Odd numbers for fighters I believe…At least for MiG currently at MiG-35

    maybe Su-51 to Su-59

    Su-27/33/35/37 flankers, Su-31 an aerobatics plane, Su-39 upgraded Su-25
    Su-47 Berkut
    Su-41/43/45/49

    Sooo…. maybe Su-5X series?

    They didn’t really re-use the Su-35 name, the Su-35BM is a “big modernization / bolshaya modernizatsiya” of the Su-35 – so I can’t say it’s a recycled name.

As for the PAK-FA series designation, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Once again, Masorin is not qouted as saying that.

He was indirectly, which is close enough. I mean I’m sure the reporters made up the theory. Get real. . . .. .

When it was said, or even a year later. Come on man, you are fighting a losing argument.

The MOSKVA is also equipped with VULCAN. It test fired those during the latest deployment/exercises in the Atlantic.

I would think that the BAZALT production is terminated and the newer VULCAN has taken over.

I’d be surprised if the the Slavas don’t all get upgraded to the Vulkan, considering they are some of the best heavy ships in the Navy, and the Vulkan seems like a very capable platform (Mach 2.8 / 700KM range / 1000KG warhead).

A simple photo would provide the evidence.

Likely not going to happen with a top view.

All we’d likely see is a side shot.

lawrence I hate to say this man, but you really gotta get your head straight.

You are obsessed with anything Pavel Podvig, and do not accept anything except what you believe is right, even I’m not that stubborn.

More “bad” news about Bulava being based on the SS-27.

Nice way to back out of you position whilst trying to avoid admitting that you are wrong. You do not have a single reliable supporting source, while me and Austin are in agreement with a basic analysis.

And stop manipulating your sources, we do not know that Masorin said that at all as it is not a direct qoute.

Masorin’s info > info of all armchair military analysts online.

    😉
