The “balbo” at Legends isn’t the same without the Tigercat in the lead position somehow.

Adrian, the Stirling shots are in the USAAF Honington film. I got to it by putting “Aircraft” in the search engine, then a sub title “aircraft” comes up and it is then one of about 30 titles that appear. Hope that helps.

Or the farmer with his Land Rover. Now how do I know that?

Oh well it was worth a try. I suppose a look at G-INFO on the CAA website will give you the addresses of all the Turbulents on the register. That might give a clue to where they are based.

There’s one just up the road from you in the Midland Air Museum. I’m not sure that it ever flew but it was complete last time I saw it. It’s mounted on an internal roof so you might need a ladder of some sort.

As I understand it the circa £4000 course is only for already qualified PPLs. It comprises some time in a Tiger Moth, followed by time in a Harvard and finally some stick time in the Spitfire. Apparently it’s all approved by the CAA but I guess doing your whole PPL course on a Spitfire might just need a lottery win.

Nice picture of Sally B but isn’t she parked in rather an odd place? I noticed she was there last weekend. Prior to winter hangarage she usually parks on the hardstanding facing Hangar 2.

There was a set of display boards in Hangar 4 at Duxford recently, which listed all the Polish pilots in the Battle of Britain. They have been replaced by a replica Spitfire.

I’m sure a company the size of Cessna would be able to “screen” any loss-making divisions but I think the main reason they got in to trouble was the product liability insurance on their range of singles. At one stage the insurance was allegedly greater than the cost of manufacture of a Cessna 150. It wasn’t helped by a series of claims in which typically a pilot set his compass wrong by 180 degrees at night and flew out to sea instead of his home on dry land. That apparently was the manufacturers fault
