I operate from a farm strip and I think it will be very useful as long as the R/T is disciplined. More than once I’ve had visitors taxiing on to the active when I’ve been on final. This might have been prevented if Safetycom had been available.
Still at Duxord awaiting work on the prop (allegedly).
Were they all open cockpit? It’s bad enough in a Tiger Moth at 100 mph. Heaven knows what it must have been like at 400 mph. And don’t the Italians know about colour schemes. Stylish doesn’t begin to describe them. Graet stuff.
Oag, thanks for the “heads-up” on the start time. Must see those jet -powered microlights!
What time does the display start please?
Great stuff. Must go again, it’s been 6 years since the last visit. Judging by the wind-cheaters it must have been fairly cool. What was the weather like? How did Howard Pardue get on? He’s a regular to Duxford so I’m always interested in his performance.
Talking of which, what happened to the film that had Lee Proudfoot in drag and flying the OFMC P-40 in Luftwaffe markings? I believe it was filmed in Ireland. Same movie perhaps?
Thanks for the update on the Meteors. What a fascinating collection and I hope you can keep us updated on progress.
Tres interessant. Combien des Meteors avez-vous la-bas? Which uses up all my French.
It looks like there is plenty of work to do.
Really liked the shot of the two Chipmunks “out to pasture”. Looks like a good day was had by all.
It’s a Victa Airtourer (Australian, hence “ozplane”). It appears on a list of aircraft of “historical relevance”, the CAA’s words not mine, along with all the Austers and Concorde! They are being excluded from EASA legislation under Annex 11(a) to EC Regulation 1592/2002 whatever that means. It could be that we’ll all end up on Permits rather than C of As. Anybody heard any more?
The same thing is happening to my aircraft as well. However it’s just come off C of A so it may be a holding phrase until the new C of A is issued. There is also the possibility that aircraft that are not controlled by EASA, the new European agency, may have to go on Permits rather than C of As. Hope this helps.
I think Lee Proudfoot was in the Spitfire and Alistair Kay (?) in his P-51. Not sure who was in the Wildcat.
Thanks chaps. They made quite an unusual combination for the Duxford day-trippers.
If I remember correctly, the only reason it fetched up in the OFMC hangar was that there was a dispute over the cost of transport to the USA. It resided with OFMC until that was sorted and then went to Chino. It had only been partly restored and needed all the detail stuff to be completed.
