J-10 decoys
Anyone have images of the J-10 decoy dispenser location? Any idea of the ECM fit?
The SUE (and SEM) has an excellent INS – they can fly to point in the middle of the ocean, without the need for visual or dead reckoning.
They were used as navigation support for some airstrikes in 1982.
Interesting pics flex, I wonder if those are the same as on the SuE.
The upgrades are actually abbreviated SEM (Super Etendard Modernise).
AIM-9B, AIM-9E, AIM-9J
The outer wing HP usually carry a Barracuda NG and either a Phimat chaff or Magic 2 AAM.
The conformal decoy pods (x2) carry either 126 40mm chaff or 56 60mm flares.
In conjunction with the Sherloc RWR, EW is first rate.
The dual GPS/laser guided GBU-49 have been in use since last year. The Damocles has replaced the ATLIS targeting pod – this adds FLIR. They have also been fitted to view FLIR imagery through the HUD and are fitted with NVG – again the night fighting capability is as good as anything else of similar ilk.
They can carry the ASMP nuclear missile, CRM280 conformal cameras, Exocet anti-shipping missile.
However if fitted with ATLIS/Damocles or ASMP or CRM280 cameras or Exocet or AS.30L the guns are replaced by avionics.
They were looking at IDM datalink and Mica IR – both are unlikely.
SEM are modernised attack aircraft – they are doing an excellent job of holding the line until the Rafale F3 enter service.
Thanks for the reply.
Should that be DE 1160/SQS-56 instead of SQS-26?
Any idea on the sonar(s) to be fitted to the MILGEM?
Cannot carry AMRAAM on any F/A-18 version tip hardpoints – these are rated for AIM-9 series only.
Are the Venezuelan Flankers known as Su-30MK2, Su-30MK2V, SU-30MKV?
Any pictures of AAM loadouts?
This photo shows an SM2MR being fired from the Californias’ Mk 13 launcher: http://navysite.de/cg/cgn36_9.jpg
SM1MR has a small gap between mid-body strakes and aft fins, red band under strakes: http://www.raytheon.com/capabilities/rtnwcm/groups/rms/documents/content/rtn_rms_ps_sm1_datasheet.pdf
SM2MR has a larger gap ( extra motor propellant) with red band behind teh strake: http://www.raytheon.com/capabilities/rtnwcm/groups/rms/documents/content/rtn_rms_ps_sm2_datasheet.pdf
Not too sure whether NTU adds CWI to the SPG-60 – this would give a 5th director (although ‘limited’ to 50 nm)
300 total fighter aircraft (under joint command!) including naval Rafale M and modernised Mirage 2000 – of which 40 are nuclear strike. Sounds like a fairly big cut in the Rafale program.
18 frigates – also sounds like a FREMM cut
The Mk 48 Mod 2 could carry two ESSM in each cell: http://www.raytheon.com/businesses/stellent/groups/public/documents/legacy_site/cms01_048612.pdf
In theory no reason why they couldn’t carry 32 ESSM vice 16 RIM-7M, but the photo below only shows one missile per VLS.
Back to the torpedo – three Type 209/1200 class are undergoing the Neptune II update which includes an AIP plug and ISUS 90 FC. These could also carry the DM2A4 torpedoes.
Any ideas on how the Neptune II upgrades are going? How much weight does the AIP plug add?
Thats just the pylon for the pod. Note the plastic cover over the integrated navigation FLIR……
Have they decided on new torpedoes for Papanikolis class? ISTR the decision was between DM2A4 and Black Shark.
