    Better go fast…..

It would really be exciting if Ms. Kidman were chasing him in a Fw-190…:)

    ICELANDAIR

Had some friends fly between Gatwick and Baltimore…back in 1997. They loved the flight and were pleased with the generous with baggage limits on the way home…to bring back all the bargains they found in the U.S. (including a high value bike and chainsaw).

    MORE INFO….

I recall another Putnam book on the subject “German Giants”. Lots of information on the German heavy bombers of the era.
Also, 35 years ago I read a book about the WWI German air attacks on the UK…went into a lot of detail about how the British used the attacks to build sympathy in the U.S. and gave details on U.K. civilian losses. Pity I can’t recall the name..but there is something out there published in 1968 or 69.

    Nice shots

    Merlin
Thanks for the shots. I went up in one of the Classic Wings Rapides on June 4 and really enjoyed the experience. As luck would have it I didn’t have my camera but your shots are the next best thing. And you had better weather. 🙂

their are some female out there that do love aviation,
    Regards,
    Snaps

    Snaps,
It’s good to hear there are some female aviations buffs out there.
I need to thank my wife for going through countless museums, walking miles at Duxford, puting up with the mobs at the NASM, not to mention interrupting vacations to hunt out planes at obscure airports, checking shops for books and models, waiting for me to finish a flying lesson, pretending to enjoy a helicopter ride 200 feet abouve the Potomac River in D.C. (pre 9-11 of course)…I could go on.

Thanks for putting up with it all….:)

The deep rear fuselage reminds me of the P-51H….
The canopy would be a hit at the Reno races.

I wonder how long it will be before a US airline orders the 7E7?

If it’s as good as Boeing says…and its a more efficient 767 replacement, I’m sure U.S. carriers will buy them.
But with many airlanes in red ink, I can understand why they haven’t plunked down the cash…yet.
You can bet Boeing will give United and American the benefits & status of launch customers when they place their orders.

    Is it just me…?

Let me, lifelong airplane nut and FlyPast subscriber confess something to an international audience.
    Airshows bore me.
I like seeing the planes in action…the BBMF, CAF, or even solo planes.
But overall the airshow experience I find a bit shallow…designed a bit too much for the “mass market”.

Is it just me or does anyone agree?

What does she look like today?

I was just thinking that if a Forum Meet took place with Miss York as a guest speaker say at Duk, how many would turn up. Hell I know I would. In uniform!
    Paul

To paraphrase a line from the film ” Caddyshack”…..
“…I bet she was a looker in the Nixon administration…”
I haven’t seen the lovely Miss York in awhile, is she still as lovely as she was in the 1969 version of 1940? 🙂

So you’re Brit John? Or your wife is?

My wife, Anne, is a Brit…(ex UK Army nurse), I’m American…that explains the driving confusion.
To make matters worse I have an antique car..that’s right hand drive…but the traffic flow keeps me headed in the correct lane.

    Wrong Way …. (Not Corrigan)

Based on personal experience…I can estimate that 100 % of Americans visiting the UK and drive have driven on the wrong side….albeit very briefly.
I’ll admit to doing it very rarely, usually when pulling onto a street from a parking lot when there was no traffic to remind me….:)
Another correlation, after 15 years in the U.S., my wife occasionally walks to the wrong side of the car when she’s going driving.

A fitting tribute to an important task sometimes taken for granted.
I’d Love to see one over here at the Helicopter Museum at W-S-M…
    OAW

Great idea. I’d love to see one preserved since the USMC will be flying theirs forever. Maybe Boeing coild pay the shipping to the UK….:)

I’ve been lucky getting flights in old warbirds: B-17, C-47, T-6, Tiger Moth, and newer warbirds: B-52, B-1, C-130, various helicopters……but I guess a WWII fighter…P-51 or Spitfire.
Either is okay…I’m open to offers and will buy the fuel.:)

I suppose we could have a Hate Darryl thread 😡 :p , But I think he will be hated for what happened for the rest of his time  , Cheers, Tally Ho! Phil. 😎

    At least he tried!
Sure he failed, but you’ve got to gibve the guy some credit for attempting something so ambitious.
It’s more than most of us have done in the field of warbirds….
And at the end of the day, the loss of a B-29 isn’t much compared to some of the other warbird losses…the loss of the last flying A-20 Havoc, Mosquito, He111, (not to mention the crews lost in each of these…) plus the scrapping to extinction the Sterling and dozens of others….take a look in a history of RAF and see how many planes are no longer represented.
