No one noticed that on sunday rainy day in Zhukovsky the runway had to be soaked with water? My two cent worth opinion is that the engine flamed-out bcs of ingestion of large portion of standing water on the runway and so far the “engine automatic” wasnt able to cope with that situation.

    Share? :p

I will, but think first 😀 Look the video MACK8 posted a few second ago, the same “flash” in front of the right intake just in the moment of the engine flameout.

It seems to be a FOD from this angle but the resolution is not so great to be sure. But if it’s a FOD it’s going to be expensive to fix up.

hmm,I have a bit different theory, but will wait for more insights from other guys….;)

After watching the short clip in TV news I noticed one thing. Note the little flash in front of the aircraft intake, it appears every time before the engine flameout. It is maybe pointless but I wonder what do you think about it? 🙂 Look for the red arrow….

Incident with the T-50 at Maks during take off

    http://www.ria.ru/video/20110821/421116715.html

a huge luck for the T-50 today I think, if that happens seconds later during the take-off, better not to think about it.

a very old GEFEST upgrade kit proposal for the Su-22M, similar to the Su-24MK. Dont know if there was at least one Su-22 aircraft upgraded this way.

A few snapshots from a video I have seen a while ago covering live-fire bombing exercises of the Angolan upgraded Su-22M4 C-509 conducted on Lubango airbase in March 2007. The aircraft received an upgrade at Luanda airfield military side from IAI and WZL-2. A year back I heard that only two aircrafts were upgraded, whether there was or was not an agreement between the IAI and WZL-2 I`m not sure. The last thing I heard about FAA Su-22 is that Peruvian people are taking care about their flightworthiness.

They featured older versions of SRO RWR, SPO-15 RHAWS and SO-69 IFF if memory serves me right. The most promiment distinguishing feature is the antenna on the nose in front of the windscreen – Su-25K has the older three-pole version (SPO-10?)), Russian Su-25s have it triangle-shaped.

The older three-rod antenna denotes the IFF SRO-2 Kremnij system, the newer triangle shaped was for the Parol IFF system. In 1984 we got batch of the Su-25K equipped with the ATC transponder SO-69E, the IFF SRO-2 with SBKOE(81E additional check code), the SPO-15 RWR, the KLEN-PS laser rangefinder/designator for laser guided missiles, the navigation system KN-23 and the gunsight ASP -17BS-8. I dare to say that once the Soviet VVS had the same equipped a/cs during 80ies. Might also be that some Soviet VVS a/cs were equipped with Parol IFF already.

    Yeh…

This is why in Poland we have built our own support system for MiG-29 (around military works no 2 – http://www.wzl2.mil.pl/index_en.php), Russians only provide spare parts (but surplus ex-German MiGs are handy).

Hi, I know well the situation in Poland regarding Mig-29, having colleagues in Bydgoszcz, also been there. But every coin has two sides, meaning that with every maintenance issue on your Migs you are left on your own, which is very tough. AFAIK a month ago all Migs at Malbork were grounded due to the RD-33 issues, do you have any information how they managed the repair?

It’s a Flanker mod…big deal!…there is an old saying “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” (i’m waiting for the replies of “well it’s an improved Flanker so clearly it was broke” to start coming in)

Of course it is a modification, one can`t argue about that and from the fuselage structure point of view, a modest one. IIRC we discussed this several months ago and most of us agreed.

Well, it’s simple, a vote of a Slovak citizen in terms of keeping his life standard costs much more than a vote of an Ugandan.

Oh dont worry, I understand these things well, but when I see this mess over here I start bitching about it and think nostalgic. My rhetorical question was why Uganda has money to buy new Flankers while Slovakia is not able to maintain three Migs?… 😀 Anyway, why would such a small country need to buy Flankers?. You can drive across my country within six hours. 😉

As for maintenance, I think they will rely on KnAAPO support. Training staff and building whole supporting infrastructure for just six aircraft would not make much of a sense and would cost even a lot more.

We can assume six will not be final number and they`ll soon buy a few more. Either way that would mean a lot of people from the KnAAPO factory on one place. I was thinking about Flanker aircraft technicians, mercenaries recruited from russian AF bases. Anyway, I`m still interested to find out how the Sukhoi/KnAAPO support differs from the RSK Mig. Having hands-on experience with maintenance of our Mig fleet I can say that their support here is not far from the word scandalous. I wonder why is the Sukhoi stealing big deals across the world leaving the Mig at home, they can probably deliver far better quality service, meaning ground support, tooling, spare parts and trainning.

There is a very simple method how to achieve the same result – cut funds secured for rent, education or healthcare to make them comparable to Uganda and you can immediately buy 18 Sukhois 🙂

yeah, but do not think it would be wise to cut funds to the most miserable rent, education and healtcare in the EU, rather than stopping money leakage due to political corruption.
Anyway, I wonder, how is Uganda solving maintenance of these new built fighters, whether they are paying for people hired from Russia or trainning its own maintenance stuff. It is a well known fact that underdeveloped countries in Africa are not able to perform maintenance on aircrafts over a long time period.

Guys, do not provoke this flateric guys with your childish statements about something being not right or off with russian aircrafts, as he became an obsessed spokesman correcting you that you either do not understand or are not on track or are delusional”….any chances we could make his life easier? 😀

    peace

Yes it is a rather bemusing procurement to say the least. With only six airframes availability is hardly going to be stunning. For the money spent there are several other choices I would consider available in larger numbers and offering significant capability. Even late build Chengdu F-7 offer significant capability for your budget conscious airforce.

and how ironic is that when a world`s poorest country can afford several new built hi-tech fighters Su-30 from Russia and we(my country) are not even able to maintain three “rotting” Mig-29 in a flyable state while politicians are talking about grounding them due to lack of money… 😎 Then how poor is Uganda in real?
