Any chance you can find serial numbers of those light blue L-39ZO? Great pictures anyway, many thanks, it seems they are not flightworthy more than 15 years.

Btw. inside the FANA L-39SIA is the SPARROWHAWK Head-up display from CMC electronics.

Yandex translation :
6-2 first flight was postponed due to problems with the installation of the engine hood and due to unauthorized actuation of the fire extinguishing system, and also because of problems with some steering transmission and smaller failures. On basic Lieb in Zhukovsky may 5-10 will be carried out frequency of tests with modified keels, may 12, according to plan – the second flight, may 20 – the surrender of EDO.
T-50-8 – completed a drawing of RPP, where the final painting, the frequency of testing according to the schedule, from 19 to 27 may, the first flight – June 20.
T-50-9 – performed the docking of the PTS broadcast on FOX on schedule 01.06.2016, the application of RPP – 20.07.-30.08., first flight – 10.09.http://forums.airforce.ru/matchast/4618-t-50-a-12/#post135539
I still wonder How is it even possible that this guy is not in prison. Russia rulez in democracy and human rights, or is it all a hoax? …..:)
funny, that if true they;ve had already problems with those new installed cfrp engine cowlings?…..or maybe they are not :very_drunk::dev2:
my two cents, when the whole aircraft is covered with RAM, more likely they will not disassemble it just for the transport, guess why?
M
P.S. guys, just solving another mystery of the T-50 structure, is the marked part(the sting) on the picture painted yellow made of aluminium or a composite? :very_drunk: :D:D

Oh,shi…wrong thread! =P
admin remove him!!! :very_drunk:
back to the topic then, I found some nice pictures yesterday, pretty much self explaining…..

Well yeah, the yellow parts on the inside are obviously metal, what is there to discuss about that? And composites are not allowed to have metal rivet to them now? PAK-FA frame is 100% composite?
Your logical chain of thought is;
There is metal riveted to the composites -> “composites” must be metal then
In every case, from MiG-29M2 to Su-35S to PAK-FA metal parts are either untreated or yellow. They are not grey, but yellow in most cases. And in every case the composites are grey when treated. I think it is brown when they dont treat it, for whatever reason but there are pics of brown panels before they are completed.
Why, in all of the sudden is there any logical reason whatsoever to think the metal is all of the sudden grey, and in exact same shade as composites previously seen on T-50?
Cowlings on T-50-7 are grey, cowlings on MiG-29M2 are grey, every composite panel is grey or brown line shade -> they all must be metal then…
I have no idea why we are having this discussion anyway when we know for a fact T-50 Phase 2 will have composite cowlings. This is some “there are no sidebays on T-50” level of discussion.
how many times I said this, get a job in the industry quickly you might actually learn something useful as you sound like someone who has no experience and real understanding of it. It is not only about whether they are rivets/are not, but also type of the fastener, head size, rivet spacing or e.g. the way the yellow access door frame is riveted from inside the left cowling. You can even see dense rivet rows on the right cowling where the grey paint has been stripped off(metal like surface) due to high workload in the static test lab. It is clear as a day that engine cowlings are not cfrp composites as the rest of the fuselage.
Really, I have no idea why I ever again joined discussion with you as this has always been like a little baby crying they took his favorite toy or belief.
best regards
martinez
The blue grey composite as seen on the cowlings is the same composite* as has previously been seen covering skin of previous T-50’s, including T-50-0. Cowlings on T-50-7 are composite, 100000% certainly. T-50-7 seems to have gotten new brown composite (or some new mix?) to cover the skin, but there is for example still a couple of the classic light grey panels on the nose for example. Pretty confusing. F-35 has titanium and graphite/BMI in extra hot areas around the engine;
*Atleast visually, impossible to know otherwise.
are you sure they are the same?…..check it out.
The grey protective coating from T-50-7 composites was removed in the Sukhoi static test lab, but only from surfaces in order to attach tensometric sensors, no composite replacing took place there. From pictures released its clearly visible, the engine cowlings are different structures compared to polymer matrix composites, wanna bet?:very_drunk:

P.S. I might be even wrong regarding grey paint stripping from composites as this is known to be a horrible nightmare, then I resized up a small picture of T-50-7 when first time seen in Zhukovsky…..

Excellent, many thanks ! Those four L-39s, were I-53, I-54, I-55 and I-56, I presume.
The cockpit layout looks remarkably similar to FANA Su-22M-4Ks having been upgraded at WZL2 Bydgoszcz. Would you happen to know what the cockpit of their upgraded MiG-23s looks like? They should be of MiG-23-98-2 standard, AFAIK..
correct, but those first two delivered have flown long time without I-53, I-54 bort numbers being painted, even after the I-55, I-56 delivery. When we grounded our Su-22 airforce fleet and ended maintenance support for FANA, IAI went to Poland to cooperate with WZL2 Bydgoszcz. I remember we had their proposal to modernize Su-22 on table, it is sad.
Regarding Mig-23 cockpits, would like to see them too, but doubt they are modernized as those Su-22, when we realize the FANA has much better toys in their airforce inventory.
P.S. I forgot to mention the Su-22 overhaul and upgrade undervent at Luanda airfield, but unfortunately have seen only one picture where polish WZL2 workers doing leveling procedures with an a/c on jigs prior disassembling and sending aggregates to Poland….Angolan Flanker is visible behind the Fitter. As I remember the first flight of upgraded Su-22 C-509 happened in march 2007 and the upgraded examples are easily recognizable by the yellow border on the red/black insignia roundel.

some off topic, production of cfrp parts(e.g. RD-33 engine cowlings,…) in the RSK MiG Lukhovitsy plant near Moscow.

Looks like they underwent the L-39AUP upgrade by Elbit.. Got more pics of these?
Elbit was never involved, the joint venture between IAI and Odessa ended abruptly after first flight of the modernized L-39C, then IAI turned to us with the same proposal in 2005. We overhauled, modernized and delivered 4 L-39SIA to FANA. The modernized L-39 are a training platform for the Su-22.

Yeah, no. They are composite. Yellow part sections are Al, and the bottom panel that is right towards the stinger is metal too. But the rest is composites, just look at the *inside* of the cowlings.
yes, it could be missleading …..

it probably depends in which configuration is the engine lenght measured, either with the gearbox (BKA – Выносная коробка агрегатов) where the GTDE-117 starter generator is attached or without. The BKA is used to drive aircraft accessories, fuel pumps, hydraulics, electric systems and has been fairly customized for the J-10. During the engine start up procedure the BKA gearbox drives the KDA gearbox(vice-versa when engine is running) where engine aggregates are installed. The Al-31FN engine has the KDA gearbox mounted beneath.

P.S. found a nice Al-31f collage once made for another thread

? The cowlings are composite. Them having metallic structure on the inside is not surprising, or what am i missing?
engine cowlings outside skin is metallic, probably Al alloy, check the riveting structure there on high res photos and compare with T-50-7 composite surrounding surfaces…..

great stuff from FANA, thanks cy24driver2
checking this thread regularly to see aircrafts once overhauled in our company.

Can someone take the photo and draw some arrows of the things you mention please?
check the highres photos for better view of this area, there is a small heat vent grid protected. Probably first time seen bcs of missing engine nozzle.
finally a close up photos of the T-50-7 and no one noticed the engine cowlings metallic structure?
