F-35C weapons carriage – Is this possible  ( it was posted on another thread)

    http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/attachment.php?attachmentid=138882

What wonders me most is how reliable the internal bomb bay will be throughout years of service. No doubt, the hydraulics (opening, closing doors, ejecting mechanism) suffer when working during high G enviroment, despite of that it has to work flawlessy all the time. It might turn out to be a maintenance nightmare of the F-35. What you think, is that really worth reducing the aerodynamics drag but making the aircraft more complicated and maintenance unfriendly? The insufficient space of the internal bay is another serious problem, which will result in using classic pylons anyway.

Finally had the leisure to go down there.
    Couple of pictures below.
    Taken with RAZR v3i.

You must be a pretty busy guy when considering you`re a Muscovite. Anyway, was it worth visiting? I see that some things have been added since my visit as barriers all around exhibits. It`s pity that you can`t get closer to planes. Nevermind, good pigeons always return back home. 😉

If you are interested the routine is availabe on youtube and one can clearly see that it is nothing more then just going through the motions ( very little interms of what a real test pilot can acheive) , the actual demo will most likely include much more Post stall performance and tigther turns and actual acrobats then that is available now .

what the heck is the youtube and does it have a download link? 😮

Really? Should be pretty easy for you to prove then shouldn’t it? Tally up the F-15 and F-18 airshow losses over the last 15 years and compare them to the Fulcrum and Flanker losses.

Now you are being childish again, wake up buddy!!, I`m talking generally about airshow crashes with human casualties, try to use google.com.

Maj. Showers is the last person to ask about russian planes, that is for sure. His remarks are not worth bothering. The rest of that article knocked me down, If he is the commander of an F-22 squadron I do not want to hear opinions of his comrades, that would be even more crappier!.

Until we have more information this thread really isnt going anywhere other then a war between the believers and non-believers.

Ok, lets see things straight, this photo shows to me a much better evidence that UFOs actually exist than those tiny smudgy Su-27 slides from the Groom lake. When there were no credible observational evidence available, UFOs would not even be considered 😎

The MiGs in the picture don’t seem to be modified at all. Even if so, they would have modified them back to standard from 1978 till 1992.

Why is the gun removed if it’s a museum exhibit? Did the ATF bureau keep it?

How do you mean that? It looks the same as on pictures I posted, am I right?
Maybe they wanted to sell the gun, as they do with the MIG clocks all the time….. 😀 😀

Given that any picture taken at Groom Lake even on the ground is from a distance of at least 15-20 miles away or so, what is to say that these weren’t taken there?

Taking pictures of structures, buildings or static objects at 20miles differ to great extent from spotting planes, flying objects. You wont be able to spot the aircraft with your own eyes, not even find it with a telescope, because telescopes have pretty small field of view.

I hereby demand that any and all future pics come with a certificate of authenticity that clearly and explicitly state the following:

Yes, you making an idiot from yourself by believing all that S****T lying around the internet. Anyone want to discuss the Roswell incident 1947? 😀 😀 😀

but I was involved at some work at tyndall and managed to take a good look at f-22A’s parked in a hanger and talk to pilots , maintainance people alike.

If your meaning of “to take a good look” is the same as mine, then there is nothing to complain about. You`ve got hands on experience, you`ve got information from the source, much, much better than official press is getting. Then why care about airshows, do not waste money and time on them. Actually, what they were saying is that till 2008 there will be no solid “seven minute” flying display. Despite of that they can still show good things as tightest turns, high/low speed passes, climbs, …etc. Who is flying raptors at airshows nowadays? Should not be there test pilots as they are self-confident with the plane?

I’m merely pointing out that Flanker and Fulrum pilots (or Russian and Ukrainian) seem to skate closer to the edge than Western pilots in airshows. Witness the number of crashes you see. I don’t think the aircraft are worse, I don’t think the pilots are worse, I simply think they tend to fly closer to (or AT) the ragged edge of safety.

Every year, people are killed at US airshows, so please do not come up with this “skating close to the edge” nonsense. When the crash happens, it doesn`t matter which type of aircraft they have flown, because people died.
We should at least differentiate them with respect to their reasons(the human factor/machine failure). I have a feeling there’s a lot more insanity at US airshow than you realize. You could mention the Lviv disaster the most horrific airshow crash in history, caused by a flagrant violation of airshow safety regulations. Hopefully this never happens again anywhere, but as we know the human being is capable of making the same mistake again.
P.S. some of my own personal remarks on airshow safety. Since 1990 I`ve been visiting airshows regularly all around the Europe. The “Frecce Tricolori” aerobatics team which was according to me the one of the most undisciplined airshow performer (flying across the display line) has been entirely outclassed by the pride of the US Navy, the well known Blue Angels which I saw for the first time in june 2006 at Leeuwarden, the Netherlands.
The Blue Angels were flying across the display line almost constantly a few hundred meters above spectators. Even the “Fat Albert” C-130 aircraft flew over a crowd. I`ve been talking with a couple Dutch guys, they were shocked about it too, damn Yankees!
I found this saying on the web and it fits to you perfect….
How often, do you see a Mote in your brother’s eye, while you do not see a whole beam in your own eye.

One need only look to Flanker and Fulrum routines over the last decade or so to see what happens when you push it right to the edge just for an airshow.

why do i smell sarcasm in your post? What is the point of that? 😉

Well I dont know about you but It leaves me sad when the aircraft that I’m interested in seeing isnt going to perform anything close to its edge if the pilot flying it is to be believed. ……. ( specially when i’ve allready seen raptor many times at SD , at tyndall in hangars , and on flyby’s)

What do you mean, you are allowed to be on the base during a regular “raptor” flight day? Geeez….it is a million times better, what would I do to be there too……..I envy you. Remember, no one is going to show the edge on the airshow, it never happens!

I got this out of the latest codeone issue –

And all this while i was planning to visit some places where they were going to have the raptor 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡

Why are you so sad? When they`ve said We are doing more shows this year , but I do not understand what are you expecting from the F-22A, doing what on the airshow? The raptor will never be able to perform display like the Mig-29OVT or Su-30MKI, neither the aerodynamics nor the TVC wont let him……

Hmmm…I`ve been googling this for an hour and found this…..

NAIC donates MiG-23 to AF Museum
In 1992, a Russian unit sold the MiG to a company in Finland for display purposes only. A U.S. citizen from Florida bought the jet from the Finnish company and imported it into the country, apparently hoping to fly the aircraft in air shows. Unfortunately, he brought the aircraft’s Gsh-23L 23 mm cannon into the country illegally and lost the gun and aircraft to the U.S. government after the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms seized them.

I remember reading somewhere that those six Migs-23 were specially adapted for this international airbase visit. They removed they IRST, antennas, changed the nose cone,…etc. to disorientate aviation speciallists in the west. 😮
