On the subject of XL500, here is a pic of her I took at Chatham in 2000, you will notice that the wings are extended, now does this mean that her electrical and hydraulic systems are still working, or is there a ‘manual’ way of folding them? Not knowing much about these things I am just interested. Would love to see it in the air though!

There is indeed a piece of film of the bev landing at Hendon, I know as I have a copy along with a short interview with the pilot who flew it in, Flt.Lt. John Craig.

I to only met him the once, like kev, at the get together back in January, so enthusiastic, the best talk I have ever heard, I would have gladly sat through it again and again, a truly wonderful man. He will be sadly missed. My sincerest condolences to his family.

I have the region 1 dvd, the quality seems fine to me and the most important thing is it’s in widescreen, I have a Panasonic dmre50 dvd recorder and a panasonic dvds35, I also have a cheap multiregional player, there is a big difference in playback quality between the cheap one and the Panasonic ones, so much so that I have abandoned the cheap player, after making back up copies of my region 1 discs (for my own use you understand!!). as a foot note it does seem rather stupid of mgm to release the film for the American market, haveing said that i will be buying it when it comes out here, so thay get my money twice…maybe thay are clever…. 😀
Another good site for multiregional stuff is………….

I to can recommend play, and don’t forget they do pc games as well got my copy of cfs3 from them for 17.99!!! cheapest I have seen any where, local store wanted 25 quid for a second hand copy, as for dvd players, you have to have one they are cool, if you are going for a recorder get the Panasonic (RAM type) one you can do loads of stuff with it, like watching the beginning of a recording whilst it still records the end, very clever!!

This is taken from a 1987 west malling model airshow “official programme” (amazing the crap you keep aint it?). I don’t remember the 190 flying, but I do recall his stuka, the previous year, complete with 2 litre lemonade bottle ‘bombs” filled with god knows what, making a big bang when he dropped them from it, it impressed the hell out of me, as I was still learning to fly (models) at the time. if anyone is wondering…I do have the programmes from 85, 86 and 87, I did appear in …I think …a issue of radio modeller in 87, holding my slope soaring E-E lighting…if anyone has any copy’s of said mag, from said period, I will kill to have a copy. As mrs dezz don’t believe me……15 minutes of fame and all that…………

Hi BlueRobin. I’m glad the vid is working…never ceases to amaze me what the threat of violence does to machinery. 🙂 🙂

Bob, I’m glad you like it. I know what you mean about Bentley Beauman, no wonder he’s got his dinner all down his jacket, bless him. I like The clip of the bev landing at Hendon, must have been scary sitting in it! 😮
