ooohhh..how about the entire contents of the Battle of Britain hall…..or come to that the entire bomber command collection…if it had to be one, I would love to see theDefiant……..or the TSR2….or……… aahh sod it…everything they got! But if someone said “I’ll shot you, unless you choose one” it would probley be something with this little baby hanging on the front of it.

Although nowhere near Neillys standard, Btw the Mossie looks lovely, I used to fly radio controlled aircraft back in the mid to late 80’s. and its something that is immensely fulfilling, although quite expensive, once you have had a go it’s always there, you always say “I’ll have to get down to flying them again”. I would advise anyone who hasn’t done it, to “have a go”. join a club and listen to the experienced flyers, as you will find them more than willing to help you get started, with advice as to what model to start with and so on, I was told not to even think of a scale one until you have a few years experience of the ones that are easier to fly, as it would, more- than- lightly, end up as a very expensive bag of fire- wood. The red and white one below is the aircraft I learnt to fly with and is, I think, a DB Mascot don’t know if the company is still around, the other one is a glider, that unfortunately I never flew…still… “One day”.
Although not strictly in keeping with the forum I hope this is of interest to someone.

This may sound stupid…as most of my posts do….but what about using plans from a flying scale model. Scaled up of course, some of them look pretty realistic you know the Brian Taylor ones?….. yeah I know, just call me “stupid” 🙁

I know that the aircraft buried under ice are not going to turn up every where, but, and I don’t know the economics at the end of the war, but maybe it was cheaper to bury aircraft rather than sell them even for scrap, after all when ww1 finished did they not burn a load of aircraft as know one wanted them? Admittedly string, canvas and wood aint a lot of good to anyone but aluminium and iron are, However there must have been loads of scrap metal about in the form of guns shells jeeps whatever so I can imagine that metal prices were rock bottom. And after ww2 petrol was still rationed so why waste it by pouring it over stuff and setting fire to it when you can just dig a big hole and end of problem. Getting back to the aircraft under the ice… I am sure that after the aircraft all put down there, if they wanted too, they could have got some if not all the aircraft off the ice cap the following year or something, but it was probley cheaper to leave them all there, as p38’s and B17’s were probley “10 a Penney” just like spitfires and lancaster’s and every other aircraft at that time. I am only guessing all this here. Not a very good argument I know, but I think there is still a lot of stuff waiting to be found. 🙂

Getting back to the clip…I think its from the 60th anniversary spitfire program as shown on the history channel, and probably every other channel on wonderfully repetitive sky tv , a few years ago, so anyone wanting to see it again could either buy the vid or wait a few weeks and tape it yourselves. And a superb piece of flying it is too. 😎

If it’s going to come down this way, I wish they would route it over Gillingham or Rainham. 😀 😀

Well I heard that there are loads of aircraft under the ice somewhere? They may even get a p38 out and return it to flying condition!!!…..sounds fantastic….but if that’s true, and you all know it is, who’s to say what’s out there.

Depends what you mean by “best” I love nx611, but I think that “Sugar” at Hendon is without doubt “The Lancaster” being that, and I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong but, she is the only surviving one that has done what it was designed for.

Lol. I cant make it to Lowestoft unfortunately, it sounds like its going to be a good show. As for the aerial guy Once he has put your new aerial up, your digi box should work fine, and As for falling off your roof…well…he should have his own insurance shouldn’t he 😉 it aint your fault if he cant hold on is it? 😀 If he does fall off just put him and all his gear into next-doors garden and deny all knowledge ;). Hay.. here’s a idea, maybe you could borrow his ladder so you can get a even better view on the beach.:p

This may sound stupid, but why don’t you stop the engine just before “Landing”?, it seems to me that it would do less damage, but I am sure there is a good reason for keeping it running…anyone?.
