Ah, so the paveway iv could theoretically be racked, but does anyone know if it could on the paveway ii
The 500lb Paveway can be carried internally, if that’s what you meant.
Sort of, by racked i mean two bombs on the same pylon.
Do any of you know if paveway bombs can be racked?Or is that their fins are to big?
What I ment was 1000 LB JDAMS AND 2000 LB JDAMS
I would just love to see an RAF F-35C(when in service god knows) armed with 1000-2000 JDAMS.
part of the F-35 buy for the UK.
wouldn’t it cost the MoD a lot more money to buy the extra JDAM kits when they already have paveway ?
[QUOTE=Aussie Digger]A 2000lb JDAM or GBU-10 should do the trick…
I wish but the RAF dosent have ANY JDAMS in its inveentory.
What’s the point of arming a stealth fighter with a weapon that can’t be carried internally? .
Situation: youre on a CAS mission over afighanistan and youre up against a harnend compound, i dont particulary think that “stealth” will be a priority.
I have just rembered something spudman said earlier about UAI so maybe they might intergrate the dumb 505kg bombs, you never know. And because there are less fins on the dumb bombs they could probably rack them on the external pylons!
Im just saying imagine two 1000 lb bombs on a rack on the center wing pylon and the same with the inner wing pylon and then two could theoretically be fitted in one of the bays; and the same with the other side of the aircraft, it could give it an overall of twelve 1000 lb dumb bombs. Now even i know thats an impressive load machable to the f-15 strike eagles heaviest load!Obviously this loadout would be used for bombing of a city and not CAS but o’well.
Dont qoute me on this but i have heard that the RAF likes to use brimstone in the “SDB role”.
small dumb bombs distributed across it would do.
UK dumb bombs are not going to be intergrated on the F-35C so what are they going to use instead?
Hardened targets need penetrating heads (either two stage explosives or a toughened nose), not a bigger explosive.
Thats what i mean, the paveway III has a blu-109 penatrating warhead whereas the paveway IV has delayed fuze. And “smaller bombs, like a cluster bomb but we just gave them up” What is the RAFs replacement for cluster munitions?
Do any of you think that the RAF is subsituting the Paveway III for the Paveway IV on the F-35C, because if so what are they going to use if they are facing a very large group of enemies or their up against really hardend targets.
I would personally like to see the UK use the F-35 to furfill its regional bomber needs because it has a high payload and maybe just maybe a UK nuclear capabilty added late.
I think that the UK is happy with its current storm shadow capabilities.
Thanks, i looked it up on the RAF website but i think its unreliable because the website still states that we are getting the F-35B variant .Just one last thing, Are the UK F-35Cs going to carry the Paveway III because i have read countless reports stating that it along with the uk paveway II will not be intergrated, but as i read on the reports were about the B model does anybody Know if they are going to be intergrated on the UK C model.
