Correct S/N is XV179
Are you sure? Iraqis are already training on C-130 in Jordan, and were getting a few ex-Jordanian C-130Bs after overhaul. Jordan was also the supplier for 16 UH-1s to Iraq which should be entering service soon. This was reported in AFM in October.
They were talking about that 20 years ago too. Not much progress has been made on that issue in the past couple of decades.
Hrrm. You couldn’t have posted these pics when I was still living in Eudora last month…
Where is that hangar? Johnson County Industrial…errr “new Century whatever” It’s all NAS Olathe to me.
I highly doubt that this will be blocked. Raytheon, you can be sure, is going to be doing a lot of lobbying. It has also been publicised lately that Pakistan was using a heck of a lot of TOWs from its current inventory on bunkers and such in tribal regions. Witht he top up of 40 AH-1s, it only seems natural to provide them with something to shoot with.
A couple quick questions:
Is the Iranian Tow knockoff (Toophan) compatable with the launchers that Pakistan currently uses?
What is “Fly-to-buy” as quoted for 14 of the missiles in the original article? I’m currently imagining a helicopter load being lifted from Afghanistan for immediate use, but I’d like some clarification.
As a paleontologist, i’d like to suggest this oddball: A Mosasaur. In the Cretaceous of Kansas, these relatives of the modern day Monitor lizard grew up to 60 feet long, and supposedly came up on land to lay their eggs. I’m not suggesting a full sized tylosaurus, but a clidastres of good size (14-20 feet) could do some damage.
The only sticking point is that they al died out 65 million years ago. Unless you believer the Japanese fisherme that think they pulled up a plesiosaur in the 70’s
What exactly would a Roland do to a MOP? You still have a huge tungsten slug falling from some tens of thousands of feet.
In any case, if the B-2 was dropping it, wouldn’t there be some sort of high-jamming environment that the B-2 operates in to disturb SAMs?
well said. The US are quick to jump on anyone else who has the balls to retaliate or do anything without the say so of the US. Whilst the US foreign policy seems to be to bomb everything that moves. At least the French waited until they were attacked… unlike some nations (my own included).
I can name you 10 families that I bet SUUUURE are glad that the French waited. Now they’re waiting for the coffins to come home. Strange idea of military success there…
AP reports (on Yahoo News) says that the SU-25s were destroyed by French Infantry. Not specific though about what was used.
What was the serial of Scott O’Grady’s F-16 that was lost over Bosnia well before the ’99 war?
Eliminating the conventional fuselage goes far in lightening the structure. No wing/fuselage fairing, no heavy wing box. You’re basically combining the 2 basic parts of an aircraft into one, and realizing economies in weight and drag because of it.
1) F-8 Crusader
2) F-94 Starfire
3) He-162 Salamander
4) F-4J Phantom II
5) F-89 Scorpion
Question about those tallies: Are those the tallies of the US fighters flown by US military pilots? Many of those types were flown by other nations, and I am positive that there were kills by them.
How many months late was this? Wasn’t the first one scheduled to be delivered last April?
Yes it is…
I still can’t believe they scrapped my aircraft carrier 🙁
Hey, maybe I could make a carrier deck in the hanger. You know, like they did at Yeovilton! OK, who has a friend in the stage construction and props business. 🙂
Dang. I need to get out and about more often. Where is that hangar? Looks like the one I saw at Johnson County Executive back when they had the Eagly Optica demonstrator there.
