There is no specific threat to the US , this should be a matter for the UN , there are over 1,000,000 North Koreans in prison camps , or should I say death camps – as very few have ever escaped alive . The country is going through a severe famine caused by mismanagement , millions have died in the past decade , they have in the past been given aid from SK and the USA , now this aid is no longer coming through they are restarting their Nuclear program . Kim Jong Il has tried everything possible to bring in foreign currency , including the manufacture and sale of narcotics , mass counterfeiting of US currency . There is every chance that he will attempt to sell Nuclear capability to whoever has the cash . Probably the only reason that the North hasn’t tried so far to invade SK is the fact that there are US forces stationed there .
Also seems like the US got shafted by the UN , the Korean War was a UN action , which never actually formally ended so why is the US left alone in SK , surely it should be a UN force.

Seems to me that since the collapse of the USSR the North Koreans have used this “famine ” card to extort food aid from all over the globe , now Bush has (quite rightly) stopped sending fuel oil the North Koreans are upping the stakes by playing the Nuclear card , this is where it gets dangerous , do we pre-empt anymore posturing by bunker busting Kim Jong Il’s nuclear sites or do we wait until he’s made a few nukes and started selling them to the Yemenis , Iraqis etc ??
