    RE: Airshow Irritations!

I was too busy watching Halle Berry but yes it does look like an MD500 , probably the most “way over the top ” Bond ever.

    Keith ,
I’ve already Emailed the new curator just to welcome him to the job and ask if the MoF Forum will be back. Is your bonedome in the display cases behind that big missile / rocket thing or is it the one in the Meteor (green with white cross on top).
I hope you get the use of their facilities , that would be superb , there are a lot of enthusiasts up here who would jump at a technical workshop class .

Der, I’ve stood at the memorial at Upper Dallachy and walked on whats left of the taxiways at sundown and there is definately an atmosphere about the place , visions of the Banff Strike Wing , how many young men flew from these airfields – how many paid the ultimate sacrifice ………..
Definately a nice place to live , Uncle Keith has it made Nimrods to the left , Tornados to the right and the blue sea in front.

Just the Irritations bit – Nip over to the Air Forces Forum and you can cause chaos , pick a topical thread China , India , Pakistan etc and throw in your tuppence worth , those boys are serious over there!!, a simple “the Chinese J10 is crap ” could almost restart the Cold War

    RE: Congratulations!!

You’ve certainly aged well Keith , compared to the photo of you getting your Royal Warrant and Meritorious Service Medal from AVM Johns you haven’t changed at all !!! , the sea breezes , highland air and fine malt whisky must have some preservative effect.

Keith , if you noticed , I did put a bit about “then and now” , we’ve seen photos of you then (including the menacing look from you holding a Sten gun in the back of a KAF Caribou).Where’s the “now” photo ??.

Choppers , na , overgrown food blenders , I would love to see somebody using an ejection seat in one , maybe the Russians could do it , they have seem to have a display worked out so at least one aircraft crashes , maybe they could crash a chopper instead ??

    RE: Aircraft / Bomb Tugs

Wow Gary , you must be a wealthy man , an MF135 , these are selling for crazy money in Sunny Scotland , farmers use them for scattering fertiliser and yard cleaning . There is a big demand for them over here , I’ve seen absolute junk 135’s selling for over £2000 , farmers want them as they are economic for the lighter work on the farm , collectors buy them to restore , I’ve met people who have spent in excess of £3500 just to restore one just to display standards there is also demand for tractors for export to India too.
I have 2 TED20’s which were purchased new by my family in 1951 and 1952 , I’ve restored one of them but they are both used around my uncle’s orchard , the Shuttleworth Collection have a TED 20 as a tug – I wonder if any body has photo’s of it ,
Sad hobby but I can’t afford my own aeroplane so the next bet thing is replicating one as a tug and buy a bomb trolley.

    Cheers

Gary I owe you a beer or two , I contacted a few companies by Email with your photo , managed to get a full set of tinwork from a guy in Ireland who bought a TED20 from the MOD and stripped it down to use it on the farm , he also has all the parts for converting the brakes to a hydraulic system , thanks again.

    RE: Project FM159

I think I’m correct in saying that NGK either still make these plugs or have a store of some .
I looked for ages for weird spark plugs for a JAP engine eventually I contacted them , in stock , no problems except they were £45 each , I went through about 5-6 before I realised the mag timing was out and the carb was’nt set up correctly – burning the exhaust valve seats and knackering the plugs.
Ask the BBMF where they get theirs from??
