    RE: Save a Sea Vixen

I think the Museum of Flight at East Fortune already have a Sea Vixen but I would love to see this airframe going there , (maybe with a differet colour scheme) , they have some superb aircraft from the halcyon days of British aircraft , Vampire,Meteor,Whirlwind ( the chopper !) and Sea Hawk , anyone who has’nt been to the Museum recently should come up , it is a credit to all the prople involved , the 2 exernally diplayed aircraft , (Vulcan and Comet ) are in excellent condition ,and the Lightning looks excellent , there are very few guard rails to obscure photographs and there are a few aircraft with steps which gives excellent access to the cockpits.

    RE: my input

As a Scotsman I found it amusing that they used a partly factual Scots based storyline but the lead role was played by an Australian , the movie was filmed in Ireland and funded by the US film industry .What do you think the screen writer would do to a film about the Nightbombing of Germany ??? , probably something stupid like using Vulcans to bomb Peru in the 1930’s !!!!.
Seriously , the bombing of Germany is probably the only theatre of war which has not been covered by a decent (recent ) , films like Target for Tonight , The Dambusters and 633 Squadron are excellent But a film using modern technology to accurately produce a film about the bombing of Germany would be excellent and would give these mostly unsung heroes a decent tribute .
Imagine the BoB Memorial Flight Lanc and the CWH Lanc parked next to Just Jane !!!.

    RE: KB976 and Sandtoft

It was actually Charles Church who owned her at the time of the hangar collapse , following the tragic loss of Mr Church in a Spitfire crash (MK606 ??? anybody else know) his collection , including the Lanc was sold off . When Sir William Roberts sold the Lanc to Charles Church the fellow who ran the Strathallan Collection , ##### Richardson , went with it , after he left the collection went downhill pretty quickly ,
Doe’s anybody know if Mr Richardson is still based at Popham Airfield and how far along is his Walrus restoration ???

    RE: For lancman

Lancman, I’ve just found the photos of KB976 lying at Sandtoft , I saw this Lanc many times at Strathallan when she was owned by Sir William Roberts ( I think it was you who sent me the photo of here when she was rolled out of the hangar for ground runs) , do you know who owns her now ??? and what is planned for her ???? , its sad to think that barely 12 years ago she was potentially airworthy and now she lies mouldering in a heap at Sandtoft , its a shame the Panton brothers don’t have a bigger hangar .
Maybe she should have been left in Canada , they seem to take better care of their aviation heritage than we do – on the other hand Sir William Roberts did save a lot of aircraft , many of which are airworthy at present.

    RE: Sandtoft Airfield

Thanks David , I visited the Strathallan Collection many times and was dumbstruck every time I stood under the Lanc , Lancman sent me a copy of one of his photos when she had been rolled outside of the Hangar at Strathallan , who owns her now , do you think she will ever be restored ?? , it’s hard to believe that this aircraft was potentially airworthy only 12 years ago.

    RE: Sandtoft Airfield

What happened to the rest of KB994 ???? , is this the ex-Strathallan Lanc/purchased by Charles Church and then crushed in the hangar collapse at BAE Woodford ??? or am I getting mixed up???

RE: British film and the Nightbombers…

There was a rumour some time ago that there was a new screenplay/script for “The Dambusters” being hawked around the US film industry , I’m pretty sure I read it in Empire magazine shortly after Pearl Harbor went on general release.

RE: All these Spitfire location questions

I agree with Lancman .Be much better asking the location and condition of all the surviving Lancasters ( ie what the hell is happening with the once proud KB994 which is lying wrecked at Sandtoft)
