Bloody hell Joe , how could somebody “accidentally” shoot down an HS125 !! .
ANY good anecdotes are always welcome on the Forum , as I said before , Keith Mac, did some excellent postings with tales and photos – these went down a treat – you definately won’t be seen as a “know-all” , we’re all Aviation enthusiasts on this Forum and you will as regarded as “walking history” rather than anything else , just start with how you got started in aviation and we’ll see how many people are interested 🙂 🙂
Get posting !!!!!!!!!
house , beat you to it this time Ashley 😀

Surely they are not going to try and dismantle it and move it by road:eek:
Or would they close the public road which splits the old main runway in two and re-enstate it to its full length:confused:
Hi Joe , I’ve flown from both sides of the road , from the Micro strip in a Mainair Gemini Flash 2 Alpha and from the other side in a PA28 , there are only two barriers to prevent the whole strip from being used – the road , like you mention , this only cuts off a relatively small portion of the runway and could easily be removed temporarily by taking away the mini roundabout and associated fencing , the other barrier is just a fence and tyre barrier at the race track down the east end of the main runway , this could be easily removed. It’s a shame that the whole airfield with the three runways doesn’t belong to the MoF , it could be a decent place for a GA/ Warbird facility – something Scotland needs badly , although it’s proximity to the Edinburgh ( Turnhouse ) Control Zone / Corridors could cause problems . The Vulcan and Comet flew in ok .
I tend to agree that the Concorde is such a historic airframe that it should only be given to museums which have the capability to conserve them properly – under cover .
Great site !! , start reading the BrownBiscuits stories , I haven’t managed to do any work since Monday as I’m too busy laughing at them .
David what about sticking the Lightning engine change photo on the Forum and talking us through how it was done ???? , any anecdotes would be more than welcome here !!
“Thirdy, regarding your assertion that she could not be relied upon during a ‘mission’. Well I was only involved with one ‘mission’ a few years ago with Heavylift. We had to recover a downed BAe 125 from Angola. The professionalism of the Heavylift crew and the unique capabilities of the Belfast which performed faultlessly were ably demonstrated during the recovery, a task which certainly could not have been carried out by a C 130. ”
Joe , what about running some threads about your aviation experiences , KeithMac did a series of very good engineering threads which went down well , I think Keith is pretty busy writing at present an as a result hasn’t been on the Forum much recently , what about writing a few threads about yourself ?? , I for one would be very interested in any engineering type stories , and I’m sure I’m not the only one .
Imagine the abrupt pitch forward if the tail support was extended before landing !!!!!!! .
Anybody else got some photos like Kurmitz’s one ?? – nice one mate !!! , was there a photo of a C5 with a broken wing due to being fueled in the wrong sequence on another thread ???

Alastair, it serves you right for driving a Volvo, they obviously need lorry tyres.:)
I now use Colway remoulds and won’t use anything else. 150 mph rated and the best tyres I’ve ever used.
Colway remoulds are good tyres , they are hard to find up here though , I had a set on my 850 and they took a real pounding , I tried a set of very expensive Continentals and they gave up after 8000 miles , they started bubbling on the sidewall .
The 240 is used as a van basically , I can put a ton of sand in the back and the self leveling suspension works just fine , bit heavy on the gas though !! :p
