Whats the point of a college that does both when you can do your A-Levels at your local college and fly at you local airfield.

If you’d like to get away from home for a bit then I’d recommend a visit to Florida to do your PPL. 4 weeks in the Florida sun flying around all day can’t be beaten!

Have to second that Lanzarote is a great place to go, I was out there at roughly the same time as EGNM last year and its fantastic.

I also stayed in the Beatriz Playa, fantastic Hotel on its own but with its positioning its a dream come true.
If you get the right room you’ll be able to spot from the balcony even without binoculars as its very close. Theres actually some shots on the site EGNM posted above take from the balcony when I was there last year to give you an idea of how close you can get!

    Great shots there ren!

Its a 10D your using isn’t it Ren?
You should be able to get them on to airliners.net no problem. If you shoot in large / fine jpg mode, use photoshop elements to (possibly crop a bit if needed), re-size to 1024 x 683 and add a little unsharp mask (not sharpen more).

    Should get accepted no problem.

    Have a look at:

I’d suggest the new long stay car park bit – spot 4.
I might be there on the day, don’t know yet though.

I flew on a bmi F100 a couple of years ago and found it great. If your near the front its fine, noise is a serious problem near the back but the front was good.

Look forward to seeing the A319 in bmi colours, should look very nice.

I’ll be at BHX and MAN for the farewell things there, but doubt I’ll go to LHR, better photo oportunities elsewhere.

Should have known it was Kalitta, the aircraft comes in to EMA (20 miles away) before flying out to AMS!

Thanks for the very detailled instructions, don’t mind a bit of a walk and sure we’ll find somewhere.
Only there for the day but I’m sure I’ll have a great time and hopefully get some good shots.

    Thanks Again.

Would love to make it and I may still be able to, but I’m hopefully going to be out of the country soaking up the sun!

Will let you know nearer the time.

Great shots! I’m a particular fan of action shots so I have a few favourites.
Whats the 747 behind the KLM F70 taking off?

Could you post the directions to the runway spot if possible?
I’m heading over myself for photography on September 2, been before but stayed on the observation deck which is pretty poor for photos really, would like a few action shots this time!

Think we found it was a false non-existant company shortly after it was announced. It will never happen its all bogus as far as I can remember from the time.

On top of the viewing bit over by the Elmdon building. Up the spiral staircase on the right hand side of the building.

Seems like TCAS is a properly working system, just in this case you have one crew following the TCAS and the other following ATC, a recipe for disaster!

Is there a general rule around the world that says that pilots must use the TCAS over any ATC command in these situations? If so then it seems the “senior” pilot in the TU-154 played a major part in this, a lot more than Peter X in my opinion and that TCAS does work if it is followed correctly.

If not then it should be made clear to every pilot in the world that you follow either TCAS or ATC, so we don’t get the kind of confusion of one following one and the other following the other that caused this accident.

Sounds like you had a good day, I made a brief visit on Sat to get the Belavia (longer than planned as it was an hour late!

Wingflats – the SAS would have been a 737-600, pretty common at BHX I think, although theres an A321 in next weekend for the Liverpool v Villa game.

    Heres the Belavia anyway.

The first one is NOT a fake!

It has been discussed before on a.net and said it is not fake. The aircraft is not retracting gear above the clouds, its simply about angles, the clouds are in the distance and look as though they are below the aircraft but are in fact a lot higher, its just the effect.

As for the Swiss posted by theplane, looks perfectly real, you get that kind of effect with a bright lit background and the aircraft being in the shade.

Take a look at this, same kind of effect, is this fake?

    Big version here: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/249662/L/
