Interesting that I’ve seen this. I was just transferring my sightings into the new 2003 book when I noticed just how many 757’s had gone.
Shame to see them go, I always liked the 757.

I think the decision of them to go came about shortly after Rod Eddington arrived. BA were using 757 and 767’s on their European flights and they were probably too big. When you look at the other major European carriers like LH and AF they all use A319 / 20 / 21 or 737’s and so it seems BA has followed them.

Saab – No, I don’t think they will get loads between Tampa and Europe.
There are a few business only flights around at the moment, but there on the business routes, Lufthansa and its DUS-EWR flight springs to mind, done well but with a 737, Crystal will be flying 767’s from Tampa!
Andrew – Fees etc will be cheaper at TPA and if your a low cost then this is very important, but this is a business class only airline and I think an increase in demand of business travel is far more important.
I just can’t see the demand at TPA for this kind of service.

Very interesting that its operating through the summer, hope to see it at a few other UK airports maybe?

The Euro Atlantic Tristar is currently operating the MAN flight for BWIA so they’re quite regular in the UK at the moment.

Looks interesting and I’d love to see the colour scheme on an aircraft.

Still looks a bit fishy, all the different aircraft types and the other thing, based at Tampa Florida? Isn’t that a funny place for an airline like this, with the business travellers and that?
I could see a lot of demand at New York or LA, but Tampa seems a strange place for such a luxurious airline!

Gaurav – what was worse, the turbulence or having to watch Will and Grace?

I don’t mind some of the mild turbulence, as Ren says “reminds you your flying”.
I never used to be keen but after spending a few hours a day over central Florida in a Cessna for three weeks, a bit of turbulence in a jet suddenly didn’t seem that bad!

Have to agree its a bit poor, scheme looks OK on small aircraft but on the 757 it just looks bad!

Are then going to be operated by DHL?

Gemini already operate MD-11’s for DHL, seen at EMA regularly although only Sunday morning in daylight really. If they are in the yellow colours it will certainly luck …er…interesting!

If your after second hand stuff then Jessops is a good shop, seem to have helpful staff and give good advice.

However if your buying new then take a look around the net as there are some huge price differences and Jessops never seem to be the cheapest! parkcameras.com, two shops in Sussex are usually hard to beat on price and its where I’ve bought my last two cameras. Just sent my new one back with a fault so I’ll tell you what their customer service is like in a few days!

Well EGNM’s in Lanzarote now, we met on Thursday morning.

Thats three of us in the Canaries at the same time, if it had been timed slightly better we could have got on a Binter flight and met up somewhere.

Very strange not to check your passports for International flights. Mind you saying that whenever I’ve travelled within the EU (Including Lanzarote last week) none of the Imigration people seem to care much at any airport!
They basically have a (very) faint look at your photo and wave you past, nobody has checked any more than that anywhere, either departing or arriving.

Yep flew on it on a pleasure flight from MAN, 1997 I think it was. The take-off is awseome, when they pull the thrust back its as though you go backwards.
You can’t actually tell your going supersonic when you get up there, just like a normal plane really, but the glass does get quite hot on the window.

Landing was cool, reverse thrust really throws you back in to your seat!

My dads done the New York run (return) and he’ll be going to New York on it again a week on Friday (back on 747 though), lucky sod!

Talking about cheap flights, I think there was some kind of deal somewhere which was about £2,000 out on Concorde and back in First Class. OK not cheap, but cheaper than the usual ticket!

Depends on your budget really. I would definately recommend you go for an SLR and then have a lens up to about 200-300mm. This should enable you to get some really good pics.

When I started I bought a Canon EOS 300 set which included a small lens for about £250. Looking on parkcameras.com the new EOS 300V (its sucessor) is £190 body only with a few options with lenses as well.
You could probably start off with a cheap 300mm lens (maybe even second hand) and as you get more serious and experienced go for a better lens such as the Canon 75-300mm (about £170).

I only have experience with Canon, stayed with them all the time and haven’t had a problem. Also they seem to be offering a lot more in the way of digital cameras if you eventually upgrade to them.

Once you get a better zoom you’ll get better pics, as with everything it will take a bit of time and practise and you’ll start to see things improving all the time.

What camera are you looking at getting?

You won’t get passport checks on domestic flights, but I’m surprised they didn’t ask for some sort of ID.

Isn’t this the airports problem though as oposed to Iberia?
