RE: And the worst songs this year?

mixtec – You have to be joking about Avril Levigne!!! Her albums great!

Mine has to be either the one by that woman from Austin Powers where she screams trough it or the Darren Hayes one that is just so annouying and horrible, insaciable (spelling?) or whatever.

Holly Valance is another, shes got a pretty face and her videos tend to be pretty good, but her songs are crap!

RE: Pic of the night… Jal’s new c/s finally applied to the B777.

Didn’t like it on the drawing posted a while back, but now I’ve seen it on a plane it looks quite good!

Very nice, particularly like the JAL titles, looks very smart.

RE: NEW NO-FRILLS AIRLINE PLANNING TO OPERATE UK – USA ROUTES!!!!

Some very interesting discussions on this on a.net!

Does look like a piss take, but its been reported by the media everywhere though, there was a short paragraph in the Daily Mirror, yesterday or today can’t remember.

Don’t know about the big boys, but in the Cessna’s your supposed to land on one wheel in a crosswind. Turn the aircraft into the wind with opposite rudder. Looks scary to us though I have to admit.

I kinda remember (may be wrong though) hearing something about Emirates and Singapore operating the aircraft for the first time on the same day. They both plan to fly into Heathrow first I think.

May be completely wrong but I think I heard this from somewhere a while back.

    RE: Aircraft numbering question

All info above true. I think with Airbus, the second number is the aircrft manufacturer (eg IAE, GE etc) then the last letter is the actual engine type.

With regrd to the Boeing codes, I have a few listed here if you need to find what code is for which airline:

Agree with all the comments about low costs. A friend flew on MyTravel Lite the other day and said it was half empty.

The thing about low costs is that they get most of their sales direct, like on their website. They need to be very well recognised quick, which means a big advertising campaign. I think the whole idea of easyjet being on airline (the TV progrmme) was absolutely brilliant, even though there is some (well quite a lot) of bad press, they are probably rivalling BA as the best known airline in the country, every one knows easyjet!

Its easier if your working from another airline such as bmibaby, but any new start-ups will find it very difficult and I don’t think it will be long before the bubble bursts!

If they can’t fit in one seat, then they should have two and PAY FOR TWO! That is that, job done, problem solved.

Hey T5 – Where do you find out about these schemes?

I was told to check magazines (by a few airlines I wrote to) such as Flight International for adverts on when these were starting, been buying for a while and not seen anything at all!

Also wanted to ask, most say they want two A levels preferably Maths and Physics, but what grades do they want? I got a B in Maths, but only a D in physics, do I not stand a chance?

I’ve got a PPL and have passed a class 1 so there are two good points.

    RE: AMSTERDAM AIRPORT

Can’t you do this anywhere? I don’t see how this is a security risk, everyone passes through the same security check point before entering these areas. You think its a greater security risk for you to walk down near gate D just because your flying from gate E (examples), buts its perfectly safe for anyone whos flying from E to walk down there. I thought this was the case at all airports, once past security you can go anywhere?

Only think that was stopped was in US where non-ticketed pax could go down to any gate, but you have to have tickets now.

Quite a few buildings shake a bit, only one I experienced was at the top of the World Trade Tower, but you only felt it if you thought about it. (which I was quite a lot as I’m not best with heights!). Must be safe though else you wouldn’t be allowed anywhere near it, must be some sort of very technical reason for it.

    RE: Holidays.

dcfly – Yep, there are Libyan flights but I’m not sure when. As the airport is open 24hrs they get a lot of night flights, so it my be quiet at times.

Another good tour company to Malta are Malta Direct Travel (something like that), its n Air Mlta company that obviously specialise in Malta. Malta’s a great place, sure you’ll have a good time.
