RE: Pic Of the Day- take off shot
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 03-08-02 AT 04:57 PM (GMT)]Thanks for the comments all (ebarrassed smile doesn’t seem to work).
Love it when they do training, you can get it from lots of diffrent angles, this is probably the best though!
RE: Virgin A346 at Farnborough
Great looking plane, saw it on Monday at EMA doing ciruits (see other post), stood at the end of the runway and it flew very, very low straight over the top of me.
PS The aircraft made its first revenue flight today to JFK (VS009 1830). Apparently it will mainly be used on Hong Kong, Tokyo and JFK routes.
RE: Interesting day at EMA
I was up at EMA on Monday but missed the 170!!
Got rather interesting towards the evening when the thunderstorms came closer on, swapped runways twice in 30 mins. There was also an AN-124 which is becoming more and more common nowadays.

RE: Hi, new to the forum
Welcome to the forum, from a fellow A330 fan!
RE: Pic of the day
Was this the aircraft that had a little accident at Gibralter? Can’t remember much about it but seem to remember hearing about a MON 757 in the new colours. Looks there long term as it has covers over the engines.
RE: Anyone know the best day f
Your name hasn’t come out properly, all its says is a greek island begining with’t, perhaps Thessaloniki?
Anyway weekends aren’t always good, Palma is best at the weekend but Arrecife is better on Thursdays, Sundays and Tuesdays, dead quiet on Sat.
Anyway, best thing to do is to go to airliners.net and see who has taken a few pictures there and e-mail them, you may even see a pic of a novair A330 and / or Condor 753 with the date already written in, you can grad your calender and see what day it was. Its what I usually do and most photographers are happy to respond to the requests.
RE: Additional
VERY, VERY BAD, they must be mad!!
I agree with those said above, plus when one of the pilots goes toilet or exits the cockpit in any way and an intruder gets to the gun.
The whole idea of all the security measures after Sept 11 is top stop weapons getting on to aircraft and now they are simply putting a weapon on the plane themselves!! This is madness!
RE: Article on plane spotting
My parents used to encourage it, I used to get a lift to the airports a few times a year, although its much better now I can drive myself and go whenever I want!
I get a lot of stick at work but laugh it off, none of its nasty but there are a lot of jokes that fly my way. I actually think if I showed some of the photos they’d be quite impressed.
The article above is good in that it gives some publicity, but it does make us all out to be geeks and isn’t at all complimentary.
RE: El AL pilot reports missile flash!
I didn’t know El Al had any TU-154’s!!!!
RE: Cannon EOS 300
Hey Roger, glad you recommend the 75-300mm IS as thats the one I’m getting! Jessops are being a little slow though, nearly two weeks since I ordered it!
RE: Air Malta orders new Airbus aircraft
Great news! Air Malta are still one of my favourite airlines as I used to fly with them a lot when I was younger. Love to see the new colours as well, I was heart broken when I saw the current colours introduced as I like the old ones so much.
RE: Cannon EOS 300
I’ve been using this camera for a couple of years. It is an excellent camera! I’ve recently upgraded to a D30, but only cause its digital, kept my EOS 300 I don’t want to see it go!
Talking about a lens, I have a Tamron 100-300mm available very soon, be looking for about £50 if your interested.
Tips: Use ISO 100 film and try to shoot in bright sunshine most of the time (difficult for UK I know!).
I’m sure you’ll enjoy your new toy!
RE: TransJet
They have a very, very bad reputation! They are flying out of most UK airports pretty much, Manchester and Gatwick mainly but I’ve seen them at EMA (Tuesday flight). Anyway some other stories I’ve heard from another forum:
1) One pilot refused to fly the aircraft because of two flat tyres and was sacked!
2) One pilot on a very late flight deiverted to BHX instead of landing at MAN as scheduled because he lived closer!
And its not unuaual to have very, very long delays!
RE: If you don’t fit the seat, pay for two
This is absolutely right!
Basically when you buy your ticket you buy a seat for the duration of the flight and thats it, if you need two you pay for two, its as simple as that!
Its NOT discrimination at all. Imagine if the plane was full of fat people who needed two seats each, the airline would only get half the money than they would if it was full of normal sized people.
I totally agree with this and hope other airlines follow suit.
RE: Pic of the Day – 19/06/2002
Didn’t they announce not too long after the attack that they were going to build 4 smaller towers to replace the 2 lost? I think thats the plan anyway, 4 towers about half the size of the others, but from what I seem to remember from the drawings that were published they look very much alike.
May have been, 1 of many ideas they have for the site, but I don’t think building anything begger is a good idea at all.
