    RE: France

    Not very funny for me.

6 of us at work had an accumilator bet on 6 sides all winning:

    Germany to beat Saudi Arabia
    Portugal to beat USA
    Russia to beat Tunisia
    Spain to beat Slovenia
    Italy to beat Ecuador
    FRANCE TO BEAT SENEGAL!

Lost at the first hurdle. x( 🙁

    RE: Renaming JMC

I actually think this is a good move.

Thomas Cook and JMC are the same company, why doesn’t Thomas deal with bookings and JMC just provide the flights?!

Because then you have to advertise two different companies which are like you say, the same.
Thomas Cook is a very well known company in the UK and as soon as people see the aircraft they know who it is. I think the idea behind Britannia and Hapag Lloyd having the same colours is a good one (even though the livery is crap!). Any non aviation fan will not have a clue who Hapag Lloyd is if they see it upon landing at their holiday destination. However if they have the same livery people will probably assume the good reputation of Britannia also applies to Hapag Lloyd.

The winglet is definately an MD-11 like GZYL said.

Is the nose taken from the top half of the A380?

    Rabie – Ljunberg

We’ll get to the second round but then loose to France (runners up of our group face winners of theirs)!
If we’d have had Gerrard fit, I’d be tipping us to go a long way.

I’ll keep my support up till the end, see my image.

    RE: Worst C/S

I hate the AA colours, they couldn’t even be bothered to paint most of the plane!

I’m not the biggest fan of BA but I actually like their new union jack colours.

Greekdude – you have to be joking about the Southwest colours, the new ones look horrible.

Don’t like the bmibaby livery much either.

I thought that, 140 on the BA and only 140 on the BWIA which was proabably a Tristar. 400 on the Virgin 744 so they were doing pretty well anyway.

Back to the incident and this is amazing really!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-05-02 AT 08:47 PM (GMT)]LukeEGTE – you have to be joking, the world cup is great! It seems to get the coutry in a good mood more than anything else can, (if England do well of course). Go around your local village / town and see how many st georges cross’ there are, we have loads. Then compare it to how many union jacks for the jubilee!

Anyway, about the programme, I noticed the slight error, thought it was good though that those passengers got there money back, even if they did have to wait a few hours for their bags! Didn’t like that woman that was trying to get to Scotland, a bit big headed!

    RE: Air 2000 ‘holy’ flight!

It would be strange to look out and see this, although I think “hole in the wing” may be a bit of a press over-reaction.

how would this have affected the aircraft’s performance later on into the flight?

The spoiler is just the part of the wing that comes up to break the air flow and slow the aircraft down. Therefore, if the spoiler being missing isn’t a problem aerodynamically (the aircraft carried on to 8000 ft without knowing anything, so it probably wasn’t) then it won’t cause a problem during the cruise. Some aircraft use the spoiler to slow down during the descent and if this was the case on this flight, the crew would have noticed if one side was slowing and the other wasn’t, but I don’t think it could have caused a fatal accident or anything like that.

Air 2000 763’s aren’t having a very good time at Sanford, I read in the Orlando Sentinel a few weeks ago when I was over there that another AMM 763 had made an emergency landing, can’t remember the problem on that one though.

Flew Virgin earlier in the month and we got them prior to landing on the return flight but none going out and none on take-off at all.

    RE: Camera’s

Is your Pentax an SLR? Why not just get a new zoom lens if so? Otherwise I have a Canon EOS 300 which was around the £200 mark and its quite a good camera. If you want to use it for aviation photography then your going to need a long lens, at least 200-300mm which cost quite a bit. My advice would be to nip down to your local Jessops and have a word with them, they also sell a lot of used stuff. One other word, use them for the advice and get a few makes and models, but if you want to buy a new camera I can give you a few websites that will probably be a lot cheaper.
I bough one recently that was £500 in Jessops, but after searching the web I got it for £372! (£128 difference!)

    RE: UK Airports 4 spotting:

Manchester is without doubt the best airport in the UK for getting close to the action, with a lot of movements too. The viewing park mentioned above is very good and there are great views available near the new runway.

Birmingham isn’t bad either, there are a couple of good spots there, but not as good as MAN.

RE: Best looking aircraft and livery?

Theres a few I like, but the one that caught my eye recently was Frontier, with its animal tails, look good on the A319. I’ll post a pic tomorrow.

I think this may be pushed into second place when I see an A330 in the MyTravel colours though!

Jordan should definately NOT be in there at all.

Jenifer Love Hewitt should be further up, if you’ve seen the film Heartbreakers you’ll understand.

As for Jenifer Aniston, she should also be further up, shes only early 30’s and still looks good.

    Good stuff.

Avianca isn’t bad, the LTE would suit an airline called European something more. The DBA one still has a look of BA about it with the blue undercarriage. Just has a different tail really.
