RE: Flight Log Book?
The log has now been emptied so any flights you log from now need to be real ones and not examples.
Thats it then, if you get any problems or have any further ideas then just let me know.
PS You can also reach the page from the slightly smaller URL: http://www.plane-mad.com/flightlog
RE: UH-oh…
Very sad news!
Lets hope its an accident, but I can’t help thinking otherwise.
The aircraft must have been at a few thousand feet over Rome and it would be pretty hard not to miss a 400ft building.
I can’t get to Sky at the moment and ITV / BBC are not taking a lot of interest, but I’ve read on another forum that they’ve closed the entire Italian airspace. Is this true?
Someone must fear something if this is the case.
RE: Pet hates !!!
I can only think of a few:
1. Smokers, don’t matter where or when, it should be banned totally!
2. Motorway Services (UK). How the hell do they get away with the prices they charge!
3. Airport Car Parks – cost about £15 for 6 hours at LHR (£22 for 7)
4. That new song from that bloke who used toi be in Savage Garden. That is just horrible.
There are many others but I can’t think of them right now.
RE: Flight Log Book?
As you can read above I’ve removed everything Airliner World from the log. So now we need a proper name for our flight log.
Some people have been adding examples, others it seems have added true flights, shall I delete all entries so that we can officially start tomorrow with the true flight log? Or do you all want to let me know which are real and which are just in their to see if it works (thinking of T5’s year 2005 JFK-LHR).
Also to try and get a bit of consistancy we need to agree to some things:
Date: Listing all entries from which date, how about the start of 2002 (as Mongu suggested in the second post)? We could go on forever listing flights from the 80’s otherwise.
Rating: Needs to be out of 10 please.
Also one minor little moan from myself, I think everything looks better if its not written entirely in CAPITALS.
So if everyone agrees, all I need are a couple of replies, I’ll delete everything in there at the moment and we can start the true log from tonight.
RE: Favourite Holiday Destination
My favourite place is definately Florida! Love everything about the place. Going again two weeks on Friday 🙂 🙂
I am a huge fan of the US, did a tour around the west once (LA, San Fran, Vegas and Scottsdale)which was excellent, but not really keen on New York, maybe it was the wrong time just before the millenium, but it was far too busy (took 3 hours to go 5 miles in a bus!).
Closer to home I like Malta and Lanzarote and I was very impressed with Majorca, very nice if you stay away from Magaluf.
Basically anywhere is better than being at home in the dull, expensive, rubbish tip thats called the UK!
RE: Flight Lessons
I completed my PPL last year in the US, cheaper and much quicker. Did my first solo in UK airspace last Sunday, flying over my local village was great.
Anyway as said above, enjoy it and don’t be nervous. Stick to it, there will be times where you feel you aren’t going anywhere fast, but you’ll get the hang of it in the end. Your first solo will be one of the best moments of your life!
Theres a lot of hard work with the ground stuff and the practical flying, but it will all be worth it in the end!
RE: Flight Log Book?
Everything should be working now, including the search feature and it should also give a personal welcome to those who have left a message before.
Thanks for the comments T5, what does everyone else think, any changes needed?
I’ll delete my examples tonight and we’ll be up and running!
RE: Flight Log Book?
I’ve created the logbook and its running along very nicely at the moment.
A few notes before you take a look at it:
When adding the date you will need to add it in the format YYYY-MM-DD. So 13 Jan 2002 would be 2002-01-13. This is so that it can display it in order of date correctly (see top of the log page).
Flight Time – This needs to be displayed as just a number (eg 4 hours 30 mins becomes 4.5). However I have added a feature that allows you to add it as 4 hours 30 mins and it will automatically calculate into the correct number to 2 decimal places. It also transfers it back to the hours/mins version when displaying the total flight time.
The log is by no means finished, the look can be changed totally and the flights I’ve added are just examples and will be removed once we have finalised it. You can add examples and test everything is fine and let me know of any problems.
Still to come – a search feature to only display certain items you want eg only your won flights.
If I have left anything out or you would like anything else added, any changes etc then let me know.

And thats the end of whats has top be my longest ever post!
RE: Your worst flight……
I was on the flight, but I don’t remember it as I was very young and slept through the entire thing. Only details from what my parents have told me.
We were on a Britannia 767-200 from Malta to Luton when we hit an air pocket. The plane just fell, don’t know how much, but as they were just serving diner it wasn’t nice. Drinks went everywhere and one of the stewardesses was burnt from the trolley. The pilot never made one announcement about what had happened at all.
This was perhaps middle 80’s and I was only a few years old and slept through it all so I can’t remember any of it myself, but it sounded bad.
RE: What´s this airport?.
Is it Stuttgart?
I remember doing some scenery on FS for Stuttgart and the airport was laid out very similar to the picture.
RE: Viva Air
I remember Viva Air quite well. Their livery with the sun on the tail was designed by school kids I think I remember reading. Anyway, they did operate flights into LHR and may have done a few charters as well, I remember seeing them a lot in Lanzarote.
They used and all 737-300 fleet and were a subsidiary of Iberia I think. A few years ago they were merged into Iberia and all the 737’s were repainted into Iberia colours. A pretty similar story to Aviaco who used to fly around Spain alot, but they too have been merged into Iberia.
This is off the top of my head, I can perhaps find a bit more info if you like.
RE: Flight Log Book?
Right then, I have the next two days off so I’ll see what I can come up with. I’ll post a link over the next couple of days so that you can all have a look at it and make any comments.
So far then the sections will be:
Username
Origin
Destination
Date
Flight Time
Flight Number
Airline
How about a Comments section as well?
I think it would be good if we could have a little banner to put at the top of the page, anyone good at graphic designing who’d like to have a go?
RE: And this one goes out to Saab 2000 – Adrian
I’d be a bit worried if I were you, looking at the profile its says
Gender: Male
Probably need to watch your back from now on.
RE: Flight Log Book?
It sounds like a great idea indeed. I’ve got in to the web site programming a bit and I may be able to come up with something here.
I should have a few days off later in the week and if the weather is not good I’ll be at home and give it a try.
What I’m thinking is a little section which shows say:
Username
Flight number
Route
Date
Any others?
I could work it a bit like a guestbook.
Let me know if you’d like me to have a go at this and any ideas on what you want it to be like.
RE: QUIZ again!!
