RE: Airtours Review
Glad you enjoyed the trip, everyone I speak to say the A330 is an excellent aircraft to fly on. I’ll be flying Virgin soon, but now the charters have the 330’s it would probably be better on them instead of the old 747 classics:-(, unless you end up getting a 763 of course.
Unforunately, a part in the right engine needed to be replaced and what should have taken a matter of minutes ended up taking almost an hour and 09:10hrs seem to come and go.
Sounds very familiar with Airtours!
I flew on A Boeing 763 for which the registration was G-DIMB. I’ve search the Internet to see if the aircraft was leased from/to another airline as it did not have the Airtours tail. It looked like the Garuda Indonesia logo, but I can’t be sure. If anyone can help me figure out what is happening, please let me know.
A lot of aircraft are leased out to Garuda during the winter for that Hadj religious thing. I was at Gatwick the other year and saw a number of Britannia 767’s with the Garuda tail and titles. Not the perfect photo but you can see the titles!

RE: GUESS WHAT!
HAhaha very funny, you did have us all fooled though!
Good to hear the news isn’t actually true, I was wondering how you heard the news anyway, thought they may allow one e-mail in India as opposed to the one phone call:-).
RE: Near miss over Spain
Know what you mean about the spot at Lanzarote. I stood behind a Tristar during take-off and force was amazing, nearly pushed us into the sea..
Bad news about the incident over Spain, TCAS did its job again though by the sounds of it.
RE: BAD NEWS
This is terrible news as echoed by everyone else on the forum.
If the authorities there need any proof that there are people who like watching aircraft etc, then they can visit this forum and contact each and every one of us!
We’ll all be able to tell them that he meant no harm.
Hope everything turns out alright, lets hope hes back on the forum very soon.
RE: New MONARCH livery in the flesh!
Not too bad at all, definately better than the old one though.
Apparently Air 2000 are now having new colours as well, that does just about all of the charters in the same year.
Also looking forward to the new Air Malta one which is due soon.
RE: Bad news for Coca Cola drinkers
I think it depends on the handling agent, from what I can remember flights from Heathrow and Gatwick are Virgin Cola, but from Manchester its Pepsi. I’ll be travelling on Virgin in May so I’ll find out.
RE: Air band Frequencies
I have a few for some UK and foreign airports on my web site:
Go to the airport guides section.
I can pretty much find out any others for you if you let me know which you want.
RE: Bad news for Coca Cola drinkers
Bad news for Coke drinkers….Good news for Pepsi drinkers!
I’d drink Pepsi any day over Coke, much better.
RE: Airport pic of the day- 27/03/02
I agree with Kabir, looks like the old Elmdon building at Birminham.
RE: Turkey-A new GO destination
Yes they were taken at the back of the Tristar.
I used to go there a lot until they put up the second fence!
Now someone has bent the top bit of the fence so I can get my camera through the hole again :-).
Keep a look out for me, I’ll probably be there a bit through the summer if we get some nice weather!
RE: South African Airways
They’ve gone for Airbus. They are getting the A340-600 and the new -300 with slightly more efficient engines. They are also using Airbus for their shorthaul fleet, the 737-800’s will be replaced starting in about 2010.
RE: Which is your favorite charter airline?
Either Air 2000 or Britannia, can’t choose between them.
I’ve had bad experiences on Airtours!
RE: Pah, who needs Low Cost carriers anyway?!?!?
Good news indeed that prices are coming down, all because of the low cost carriers. bmi used to charge £200-£300 to fly from EMA to Scotland but with Go and bmibaby I can’t see this continuing.
Lets hope they are both a success at EMA!

RE: Turkey-A new GO destination
Good to hear the news about Birmingham (and Jersey / Guernsey of course). Should be some interesting stuff in this year, I’ve got a good photo spot at Birmingham to get some nice pictures.

RE: Airport pc of the day-24/03/02
Looks like Chicago O’Hare.
Is that SABENA a 747? Looks like it from this view.
