    RE: Airports!

I’ll be interested in writing a report for EMA. Already got a few pics so it shouldn’t be a problem.

What do you have in mind? A general report on the airport, operators, facilities etc or one more from an enthusiasts point of view?

    Must be Antwerp.

There are some big planes in there, looks like a 747 in the middle.

    BA Concordes.

I think they are running as usual and there are no plans to stop. They are starting Barbados again around April I think. (Saturday weekly flight). Don’t know if they have any plans for the experience charter flights, although I suppose thats down to the travel companies (was it “David Goodwin travel” that offered the flights?) as much as BA.
It would be great to see Concorde at our regional airports again!

I want to be by the new runway at MAN when Concorde goes up! (you can get very close to the aircraft)

RE: Share your airline (unpleasant) experiences

Mine are all with that most loverble company – Airtours!

    EMA-ACE – 6 hour delay
ACE-EMA – No delay but we had to stop in Nantes on the way back to re-fuel. Apparerently the MD-83 couldn’t take off from Lanzarote with a full load of fuel and as we had a little head wind, we wouldn’t make it back.

MAN-MLA – 11 hour delay. As we complained a lot more than others and stated quite clearly that we would not like to fly on a Air Atlanta Tristar, we were taken to a hotel and given a fee meal. We were the only ones there as the restaurant was actually closed, the service was good anyway. Eventually flew out on Britannia (on time).
Found out later that everyone else arrived about 3 hours after us.
MLA-MAN – ON TIME and no stop!

What I really hate is when they clearly lie to you. On the MAN-MLA flight we were continually told, delay 1 hour, 2 hours and repeadly told 3 hour delay. Now it turns out that the plane was stuck in Rhodes with a problem, how do they expect to get it back and get it serviced in 3 hours. Can’t they just tell the truth!

    Great pic!
The UPS will be a 767 as they operate from Philadelphia.
You can also see the Prime A300 and what looks like an Airtours if you look closely.

This is the view I am hoping to have tomorrow when I go flying from there, as long as the weather is OK (doesn’t look good though), it was cancelled two weeks ago :'(.

I’ve seen the same one at Heathrow.

Its a great photo though, I wish we had more opportunity in the UK to get pictures like that, only MAN though at the moment.

    RE: in India also

Atlantic Airlines (formerly Air Atlantique) do fly them for cargo.

I think they fly pretty much all over the UK and Liverpool is a destination. They must do charters for DHL, I got a photo of this one outside the DHL terminal at EMA.

    RE: Beachcomber

As mentioned in a previous post, there a similar beach in Lanzarote, but you don’t get any 747’s, largest aircraft is an A330. It still makes you want to duck as they fly overhead, but a 747 must great.
I can always remember the rest of my family getting blown in to the sea from a departing Caledonian Tristar :-).

Not been to any of these, although it would have been great to land at Kai Tak before it closed.

The Air France flight is a 747-400.

RE: Easyjet? What’s so easy about it?

I’ve only flown easyjet once and I have to say they aren’t that bad. I don’t like the rush to get on the aircraft due to them not allocating seats, the snacks are quite expensive, but for a 45 min journey you don’t really need any.

To reply to a few of your points.
They shouldn’t change their procedures the week before Christmas, that is just stupid. I saw one programme where they changed the last check in to 30 min before departure instead of 20 min at the last minute, most staff didn’t even know about it, the ones that did were trying to tell pax that they had MORE time to check in x(.

I can sympathise with them for you story about the guy from South Africa. If he gets there late for whatever reason and there are no more seats on the rest of the days flights then there is nothing thay can do. You can’t expect them to throw somebody else off to fit hinm in!

    Great picture.

Adding to the caption, you can also see a Virgin A340 (old colours), an Icelandair (must be a 757) and the MD-11 behind the JAL looks like World Airways.

Great photo, Edinburgh looks like a busy airport!

The 146 certainly looks like a Go aircraft, but I never knew they ever operated any!

    RE: Holland

Just heard that Ryanair are in talks with Eindhoven, so they may start services. Don’t know where to, but I’d guess Stansted and Dublin would be two destinations.
