I’ll pass my mobile to who wants it.
Matthew – T3 is labelled “British Airways and Domestic” (and AA). Its right next to T1 and was only called T3 fairly recently.
Couldn’t they operate an ERJ 145 on the route. They seat about 50 don’t they?
Don’t know about prices but the Moathouse is in an excellent position, just a very short walk from the new runway spots.
Let me know what you find, I’m still thinking about staying up there in a couple of weeks for the Champions League traffic.
Will keep you posted mate.
Posted it on a.net and a guy who’s a maintanence engineer on Concorde doesn’t know anything about it! Just hope it actually happens, I’ll definately be at MAN if it does!
As EGNM says. The airline was called Maersk UK because of its connection with the Danish carrier Maersk. After a buyout by the management they had to change name and they called it Duo, god knows what why this.
Anyway, will remain a BA franchise so we won’t see any new colour schemes.
Interesting little article in todays Mirror about Concorde, it does seem pretty certain that it will end in October unfortunately, but the particularly interesting bit:
“Around five low-level flights from Heathrow, Manchester, Glasgow and Newcastle are being planned so millions can wave farewell to the droop-nosed jet”.
Sounds good, think I’ll have to be at MAN for that one!
Shows how much pressure these big matches can put on airports.
We all know the Champions League final is in Manchester and an airport that size is struggling to cope!
Just done a search on Opodo and got a BA flight for £78
EDI 0650
MAN 0800
MAN 1920
EDI 2030
Theres a few bmi ones, but you won’t get in to MAN till about 1000 with these.
I’ll see what else I can find
My dad flew out on Concorde to JFK a couple of weeks ago and said there was a turn shortly before landing. Well he actually ended up going around (must of been a great experience in Concorde!) because of another aircraft on the runway apparently.
For ideas about where to go you can check out this page:
http://www.plane-mad.com/guide_view.php?guide=man
although as Preston says we will probably change this before we go several times.
I will be another with a car and can offer anyone else a lift to more remote spots if needed.
Why do they have to have 757’s?
Surely theres a few A320’s lying around, the ex Virgin Sun ones only went a few weeks ago. Seems strange to make a big thing on the site about using 757’s and then not being able to get any!
Good to hear you had a good day and you certainly got some interesting stuff!
The Midwest is nice colours, I saw one at LHR a couple of years ago, have they moved the flight to LGW since?
Nice post EGNM, will have to keep this post in mind next time I head down there!
Didn’t someone post a website listing these on here a while ago or have I completely dreamed it?
Funny this should get mentioned, I was after these for my website so that I can make so of the logos the same size as each other. If anyone finds anything thyen please let me know.
Thanks for the plug Andrew 🙂
Although most of the guides are excellent 😀 Gatwick is definately lacking, I really should get round to updating!
My knowledge of photo spots at LGW is very limited as I don’t go very often (too bloody far to drive!) but I’d just back-up what Andrew said, if they use 08 then go to the other end of the airport and you should be able to get them lining up. If they use 26 then your best option is the Skyview (Is it still called that?) on top of the south terminal although you’ll only get photos as they pushback or maybe taxi.
If you want a good take-off shot you’ll have to tell him to fly from MAN next time!
