RE: Greece v Turkey – Future Sub War

    Submarines

Type 209T2/1400 0 (4 under delivery PREVEZE advanced class)

    Type 209T1/140 4
    PREVESE Class

    Type 209/1200 6
    ATILAY Class

    TANG 2
    HIZIR REIS Class

    GUPPY IIA 2 (Under retirement)
    BURAK REIS

    according to http://www.basicint.org/bpaper29b.htm

Turkey planned to acquire 6 submarines with local production with foreign partner back in 1998 but since then we all know they have been under severe financial strain with earthquakes in 1999, IMF loans, currency devaluations and economic depression.

Is it wise for Cyprus to buy submarines especially as western goverments are always on about an arms race on the island after the S300 fiasco. And secondly cyprus only has 11000 in armed forces/men so how many can be spared to sail these subs when in a theatre of war they won’t be much use as it will take time to re-fit for war operations and the uncertainty of going to war.

RE: Belgium sells weapons to Nepal

War would not be war if you had no guns or tanks or jets to fight with!!! a simplyfied answer but one nonetheless.

i get annoyed when demo groups complain when arms sells are made to worn torn countries but what is the difference when you sell in peacetime or wartime….lives will be lost either way!!.

The Hawk sale to India was a perfect example and a travesty at that only because the Kashmir crisis kicked off early this year!! same goes to Indonisia and East timor a couple of years ago.

Some world goverments don’t have any moral conscious when they sell weapons to wartorn countries, they do it purely out of greed and economic benefits.
