Not being allowed to take a camera would make me not want to go. Hawkinge has some interesting aircraft, albeit plastic some of them but I have not visited for that very reason.

I have read various threads etc about their no camera policy and I would only go if allowed to take pictures.

The mail flights at Bournemouth are now operated by a Titan Airways B737-300. I believe the Electra has operated the occasional flight since but not on a regular basis. I know what I would rather see!!!

Nice pictures. Thanks for sharing. I am hoping for a visit in June when on holiday up that way.

There have been a few moves round since I was there last year. I went to the open day on 29th May last year. The Triplane has moved over from the museum. The Wessex XP142 Humphrey has been swapped for the Wasp XS527 between the store and the museum.

I haven’t any pictures of the museums Corsair as that was still in the restoration area at the museum very cluttered behind glass so sorry no picture.

I had also heard that Qantas are interested in HZ123. It has not flown for several years and obviously needs plenty of work. I had heard that it is to be looked at by the maintenance company at Southend to see if it is a viable option. It is low priority and there is so much other work for other customers that it is at the back of the queue to be fitted in when time and space might be available.

If anybody else knows differently please correct me.

It was built in 1959 and is number 29 of the production line. Surely it must be the oldest one around in potentially airworthy condition.

The Varsity could well be the Duxford one when it was still a flyer. Does anybody have a date when it last flew. WJ945/G-BEDV. I remember visiting Duxford sometime in the mid eighties when the Varsity was parked on the airfield rather than permanently in the museum line up.

The one that crashed was based I believe at East Midlands and was WJ897/G-BDFT. It crashed 19/08/84 at Marchington.

The Court Line Beverley was XB259/G-AOAI which was at the Museum of Army Transport and is now at Fort Paull. In Wrecks and Relics it also lists it as ex RAE before going to Court Line.

Nice report. Hope you had a good day.

I did the same trip about three weeks ago specially to go on the B717. Imagine the disappointment in the morning at Gatwick when it was an A319 however I got the B717 on the return flight in the evening.

I had a look at the full size original pictures of the ex WGAF F104 and although the left windscreen does appear to missing it is difficult to tell from the pictures.

    Sorry cant help further.
