Firstly may I apologize for not looking at the date – on some serious pain killers at the moment which makes me go a bit loopy.

“XL319 What happened she looks neglected?”
NEGLECTED!!!
I don’t think she is anything BUT neglected.
Peter and co there is SO much work going on with 319 at the moment I don’t even know where to start – to put her 2nd off the bottom after a plane that has been scraped I think is an insult. Please take a look at the XL319 page on face book and look at how much work and love is going into this beautiful plane…not just for the aircraft though – for the whole of the museum…
Face book page – all welcome to join…. http://www.facebook.com/groups/10437669457/
A recent posting from the page – hope you dont mind me copying and pasting Maverick..:p
******************
Work is continuing although it seems like we have little to report. Over the last two weeks we have spent time putting some order into our stores. What we have, what we need and and what we would like. Uncovered a number of parts which we thought had vanished over the years.
Our risk assessment is being worked upon and hopefully will be in place for next weekend. MDS sheets are in place for most of our chemicals. We waiting for 1 to be sent from the manufacturer.
All our engine bay doors now open and close freely after a lot of effort was put in to free stuck bolts and lubricate the hinges. All the doors, and the bays have now been cleaned out, degreased and prepared for priming.
With winter approaching and the dark nights closing in, we maybe restricted in how much painting we get done. However we have plenty of other work to keep us going. Hopefully in a nice warm and dry workshop.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Steve Hancock (who has to leave us for now), for his efforts over the last 18 months and wish him well as he pursues his career.
and the other colours
Not forgetting she was in 617 squadron….
NEAM and the way forward
Well folks there are GREAT things happening at the museum over the next few months and years for that matter. Lots of fantastic developments to come. On the paying money thing – we do have an insurance bill to cover and to buy the materials needed to do the restoration. There has been SO much work done recently to the Vulcan, the Canberra and the lightning. Lots of new members and things can only go UP from here.
🙂
Another legend gone
Blue skies Les – respects and best wishes to your family.
From all at the North East Aircraft Museum – Sunderland.
Everytime I look at our Canberra we will remember you.

XL 319 update
Well everyone it turns out our girl has more life left in her yet!!!
As of Fathers day weekend she will be the center of attention for 2 challenges involving Vulcan motorbikes and Mini cars.
AND
At the moment she is also being used as a nursery to some very small but cute Thrushes who are nesting their at the moment.
Quite a lot of paint was removed from her today looking at the state of the ground and the lack of paint stripper left at the museum.
Vulcan work
Well I think the lads are doing a cracking job on the Vulcan. Everyone who got to look around the ‘Big Girl’ at the weekend really enjoyed the info they recieved off the lads.
Roll on Major to Minor day when we will have SO many vulcans on site we dont know where to put them all…..
:diablo:
Jetstream parts
Regarding these parts we need – ALL parts are needed and required to help with the renovation of this cockpit no matter what other people say on this forum.
re the strong winds and the canberra
Well just to let everyone know the Canbbera seems to be still in one piece this morning ( Sunday) no more damage to report.
Fortunately the winds seem to have died down a little today but have been informed that they may get worse as the day goes on.
Big job today seems to be the lightning – she is now facing the back of the hangar so she can have some work done on her tail end.
and thats not all
Praise where praise is due – John and the gang managed all of this with visitors crawling all over the plane – and being blown away by the arrival of a twin squirrel helicopter.

Help to raise some much needed funds for the NEAM
Just enrolled the NEAM onto a new website – its called

If you register as a supporter for NEAM ( by entering our full name in the search box and then clicking on the i to the right of the search button), then fill in the small form and send. For every 100 times this site is used NEAM gets £40 and this increases every 100…..2000 supporters would mean £800 a MONTH – yes a month for us.
Its a free service and once your reg just use it to search for any info you need – – it rates higher than Lycos and Excite – its the 8th biggest search engine in the country.
Thanks
