“Welcome to Duxford Burger King where today at the far end of the hover car park you will see a variety of vintage flying machines on the holograph player………..”
‘As we are celebrating the one hundredth anniversary of the Battle of Britain the highlight of today’s show will be a mass scramble of three Squadrons of Mk1 Spitfires who will form up with two Squadrons of Hurricanes for a memorial flypast. They will of course return later to take part in the traditional balbo to close the show, this year comprising some 382 aircraft. The BBMF will be appearing with their wonderful mixed formation of Lancaster, Stirling, Hampden, Wellington, and, possibly the Halifax. The USAF is bringing along the latest addition to its inventory, the B-52XYZ (Mark 27, variant 12.)
Don’t forget your personal transportation tickets for getting around the indoor exhibits. Remember the Superhangar is around eight miles long now. Another highlight is that today, Duxford’s own Spitfire polisher, Ashley, is to be made a Dame of the British Empire.
The Starship Enterprise A will be available for those of you wishing to go for a warp seven joyride around Southern Europe. Each trip lasts no more than ten minutes.
STOP PRESS: We are very sad to announce the non-appearance of the Eurofighter Typhoon due to the fact that the aircraft is yet to enter frontline service.’
