One of my youngest colleagues (she was born a year after I joined ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ) took a magazine test on which “Friend” she was. (She is a blonde) : Phoebe! Just what she wanted! ๐Ÿ˜€

“Dry Cleaners”! ๐Ÿ˜€ I never really believed the story of “–picking her up in a Sidney Harbour bar”
At officers school there is the possibility of a short course with the Rangers to get the parachute “wings”. So not everyone you see with these are Army Rangers or Navy SEALs. There is in fact too many “wings” in my opinion – intercept controllers, SAM launch control officers (The one with the big matchstick?) etc. etc.

Frederik’s rank is now Lieut.-Col. – and the equivalent Navy – but of course nobody else could hold in the three services at one time.

His father, Henrik, earned his pilot wings soloing on a Chipmunk, but his Lieut. General rank is entirely “a lรก suite” – without formal “training”.

In 1967, when Queen Margrethe got married, the Danish Air Force flew past in strength. One F-100 formation (11 aircraft) making an “M”. And 11 F-104’s forming an “H” (Henrik). I know the pilot leading the “M” from the middle of the letter. They had their work cut out for them, so it didn’t turn into a Chinese sign instead!

Prince Charles Chipmunk. Wasn’t it painted red with a large rotating beacon on top? Reports of it being extra carefully checked would turn my father absolutely blue (He was an aircraft mechanic in the air force from 1947 – Spitfires to F-100’s). Either it is fit to fly – or it is not! After major overhauls on Harvards they would get to fly in the backseat on the testflight. Very motivating!

Yes, there is also drawbacks, by being in the “first line”. Sometimes you just have to take a quick look – “Hey, that would have been a nice picture!” – and go on with your business, controlling or piloting or whatever.

Yes, those two girls, Alexandra and Mary, are in my opinion fantastic. The princes litterally had to go to the other side of the world to find them. Alexandra has learned to speak perfect Danish, very rare for a foreigner.

And it is of course totally absurd to inherit a title – or a country! – in this day and age, but on the other hand they are also caught in the game. They can’t just say “No, Thanks”.

Back to Frederik. His Navy uniform “wings” are parachute-wings. Much loved by the Navy and Army. He earned them though! As a Danish Navy SEAL. And believe Me, they would never “carry” anyone through their training.

He has got Air Force wings, but only from a short course on the T-17 trainer, including solo flights. Then in about 6 months trying the rest of the Danish military aircraft and helicopters. But F-16 only in two-seaters. It would have taken at least two years to complete a full F-16 course, which was not really feasible.

From memory: Just ordinary, “hard-cased”, bombs. I don’t know the inventor – or which country/service? To digress a bit more, one of the US nuclear bombs had a “cookie-cutter” on the front to prevent it from skipping!

“Forever Young” ?, where Mel was frozen until “present time” (not too bad). “Skip bombing” is just that – to skip like a stone on water. Could also be used on suitable land surfaces. Was practiced by F-84G’s f.ex. postwar.

    Very true, Il-62!
As I’ve been trying to say:
    A Tu-134 is no BAC111
    A Tu-154 is no B727
    An Il-62 is no VC-10! ๐Ÿ˜‰

(If two engines are too little and four too much – you’ll have three!)

True story from yesterday in Danish Parliament:
Debate on bills and charges for civil aviation.
The four Communists left were “against” (what?), as they “support railways”. (They have, as all MP’s, free travel on “planes, boats & trains”). The transport minister: “Very well, but who will build a railway to the United States?”:D

Oh yes – “(Heathrow)- Airport” is great!
Saves a lot of explanation. “Oh, so you are not the one with the table tennis bats?” Excellent filming also!

I have got the highest regard for the people actually “handling” passengers (“self loading cargo”). In every episode I’m amazed, why they don’t slowly and deliberately kill their customers? (Well, some of them!):(

The control column is parked forward to facilitate entry and exit. It is reported, that Russian VIP passengers, air force generals, are happy to take the controls of their transports.
