Droptank – I don’t think we should expect German wartime aircraft in Greenland. Maybe a Condor COULD reach Greenland on an Atlantic patrol?
Best regards
The other aircraft are still in the ice. The P-38’s took well to the pressure, but the B-17 was basically crushed.

Sqn badges
Nothing yet about the 724 Sqn badge, or the Navy Helicopter Service. (Former Navy Flying Service)
728 Sqn (Navy Lynx) will in fact NOT be (re-) formed, but remain in the Danish Navy. If all helicopters were transferred to the air force, as the plan was, Denmark would conflict with the CFE treaty about conventional forces in Europe! (too many landbased helicopters) 😀
(Well, they are here anyway, as far from the sea as possible in Denmark). 😉

Hey! I’m in the newspaper 😉
The nice civil servant in the foreground 😀

There is also an interview with Tex Johnston telling about the roll. When he explained to the management that it was perfectly safe, he was told: “You know that. We know that. Just don’t do it again!”
Did he do a Chandelle between the two rolls?
(- to quickly reverse direction?)
Don’t worry, Arthur! Those “Newswatch” people have been sprayed from above. You know those “chemical trails” that look exactly (!) like contrails. 😀

Good Luck! And check two RWR receivers in the extreme tail, pointing 45 degrees out and behind from the centerline of the helicopter.
Just one more of the launchers- b&w – from behind, left side:

There is a film of Bob Hoover rolling a Shrike Commander seen from the cockpit. Just to make it more interesting – and “show” the + 1 G – he is pouring icetea into a glass on the dashbord while flying. He says, he did it with some USAF generals in the back of the plane. (Not the icetea bit!)

Pilot and gunner. The round object on the helicopter is a radar warning antenna taken from old Drakens. (Photo: Villy Jensen, “Vindposen”)

And from the right. There is an armrest with a joystick for controlling the sight. (Photo: Villy Jensen, “Vindposen”)
And the “lucky” shot. Low setting sun and water on the runway.
And then the privilege to chose your “shooting” position close to the runway. 😉

Thank You! I realised after posting that I should have modified the size (pixels) so that it fits the screen (800 x something). 😮
I have posted it on “Modern Military Aviation” in the “right way”

And the SAAB “Helitow” BT49 sight from the outside. Turned sideways to avoid bugs etc. on the screen.
Or maybe the gunner is looking at me pointing that big lens at him!:D
