Or what about some clever sponsoring?
    (Virgin?) 😎
Note how Italian, French, American etc. teams have survived other hardships.

    Well put!
Let’s face it. We are all in the frontline. The highest regards for “ordinary” people carrying on, regardless.

I had read previously that the Cessna incident occurred three months earlier than KAL-007 and that was why the PVO reacted the way they did. What ever I read was incorrect.
In researching this incident I just found out Rust flew from Helsinki, Finland to Moscow, Soviet Union. So, did he fly from West Germany to Helsinki?

    QUOTE)

Rust flew a strange trip – can’t remember how long before the Moscow one – from Germany to the Faroe Islands. (in a C172). Lack of judgement by any standards.

The title of this thread reminds me of this quote from a book that I read, aeons ago:

“I never want to fight. My ideal – and this may sound
crude in civilian terms – is an assassination. I’m going to
come sneaking up on this guy and kill him before he even
knows I’m around. – Lieutenant-Commander Dave Jones, United States Navy,
    an instructor at Cecil Field
(Source: “Hornet: The inside story of the F/A-18” by
Orr Kelly. Novato, California, USA: Presidio Press,
    1990. ISBN 0-89141-344-8. 231 pages.)

Heard that before? WWI – Boelcke?

Moggy C: You’re probably right. There are other strange “words”: “Main flight trainer” = ? “Head of flight security” = ATC?
Two weeks suspension of jet flights! I’m impressed. 🙁

A friend of mine (hang glider pilot) watched a MiG 29 display at the start of a HG-competition in another Eastern European country – directly overhead a sports stadium! Very fine display – but totally unsafe for the spectators.

Toponar had earlier denied responsibility for the deaths, according to Interfax. He claimed technical problems and a faulty flight plan were to blame.

Small things, like flight plans?, can cause a disaster. “For want of a nail….”

[ the frnch Rafale is actually the most modern and performant fighters in service in the sky, you have to ask to F18 and F14 pilots of the US navy, if it kill!

Here is another one in service. Ignoring it, won’t make it go away. 😉

Well, technicaly, they probably could, but they would have to stay on the american carrier then :p

    It was getting late! 😮
You’re right, of course. The Super Etendards use bridle launch. There was an interesting discussion recently about possible F-14-operations from British carriers.

Anyway, only the E-2 could have landed on the american carrier.

    The “Sue”‘s couldn’t? Explain please?
