Attached a Howard 500 (Ventura conversion) taxying past my workplace around 1974…rare…ish!
Hmm…where might that have been? Not the former British Eagle hangars by any chance…??

Ken – thanks for the Y-12 explanation!
Sorry Eye, but this was a one off. In fact, I just noticed to my dismay the very same shot in the book ‘The Civil Aircraft Register of Great Britain 1919-1985’ so I apologise to APN and Brian Stainer or whomever (I heard he sold his collection) for not getting their OK.
Brian used to come down to Blackbushe on his motorbike, and would invariably open his box of tricks for us to choose from. This must have been one of them, but his usual rubber stamp is missing from the reverse.
Since the interest is also in Proctors, here’s ‘JLS at Blackbushe in 1963 or 64. AVM Don Bennett, who had acquired the airfield after its closure in 1960 presented the Proctor to the regular spotters in the hope we would restore it. When that didn’t happen, he got tired and had it scrapped!

The thread isn’t that old so I thought I’d share these two pics with you. They either got scratched or hairy when still wet, but interesting to see with and without scaffolding:
On the print of the Mosquito, it really looks like TV854.
However…the serial I read on the aircraft to the right of the Avengers is almost certainly TV954…the prints are very grainy.
Alan
err…. Sea Mosquito?
Lovely shots. Thanks for posting.

Really don’t know Mark, but if you say so….!:)

Avengers and Hornets, location unknown to me, heard mention years ago of Silloth. Can anyone confirm? One of the Avengers is marked XB384 and the Hornet TV354 or 854.
This Stampe was to be seen at Brussels Airport in 1997:
Nor sure why you would want to resurrect these IMHO not too funny descriptions, but at least correct the ‘Photographers: 25 photos and one line of text, that their wife helped them write’…to WIVES!! (….(or is something going on that I haven’t yet realised..?;)=

John,
Who did she belong to at the time, and what happened to her?

MiG-21s?
Mainly 21s since that was the type on strength, but as far as I am aware there was a MiG-15 in there as well. Didn’t have time to poke around, and memory fails. Sorry.

Here’s one of ‘EYE probably in the fifties at Croydon (wish it were in colour!)
Neubrandenburg 1990. Oh for a Queen Mary…could have had the lot!
You might be interested in a rather poor photo of the Praga which I have had for around 50 years, taken at Croydon in possibly the mid-fifties.
