Good to see the S-300s in action. But Russia need to stop acting completely dumb and think first and foremost of generating revenues and Iran will make a good customer as they are in need of an entire spectrum of weapons/systems.

There is still a UN-embargo on arms supplies for Iran, except AD-systems. At least till 2020, you know…

Let’s not forget, in the past 5 years, UAE announced they were buying the Typhoon only to back out of contract negotiations, then entered negotiations with Dassault, all the while negotiating with Boeing on the F-18. To make the situation more muddled, they’ve been using both overt and back channel pressure to lobby for an F-35 purchase.

In summation, this may be a way to extract the lowest contract cost from one of the competitors, even Russian Su-35’s as rumored. They may just be fed up with the US dragging their feet on approving FMS deals. It could be a ploy to pressure an early F-35 sale. What I doubt is that UAE is truly looking to develop a joint fifth generation aircraft.

That’s why i wrote ‘probably’. Noone here knows on 100% – what’s in their minds, but seeing that just two weeks ago they bought 12% of the ‘Russian Helicopters’ Holding, i wouldn’t be very surprised, if they would like to have another one stake in the aircraft industry, in the form of joint enterprise that will be developing, producing and selling 5gen. lightweight fighters to countries who can’t or don’t want to buy, for some reasons, Russian PAK FA, US F-35 or Chinese J-31.

Because, aside from a few delusional posters from the “Rodina”, Russia doesn’t have the need for another fifth generation fighter project (or likely the resources given the breadth of the military modernization drive).

Well, our officials expressed the opposite position, for many times. But at that time, we didn’t have the money on the 2nd 5th Gen. development program, while PAK FA was on the peak of its expenditures… But now we probably may get the needed funds from UAE, just like it was in case of Pantsir in 1990’s, which development program was funded by UAE on 90%, with other 10% paid by our MoD to modify and adapt Pantsir for our own needs.

Other than it will be a twin engine design.

TBH, i strongly doubt – it will be a twin engine. At least, i pray – it won’t.

With all my due respect to Piotr Butowski – i don’t think this thing has anything common with the real design-concepts.

Not an AF, but still Belorussian. I’m a fan of Indela and their UAVs.

Dont quite remember NATO doing a “1956 Hungary” or “1968 Czechoslovakia” thingy on the past, invading their own “allies” is, oh, so “Soviet”, but not particularly “Natish”…

I never said Turkey will be an ally of NATO(i.e. US), at that given time. :highly_amused: After all, “America has no permanent friends or enemies, only interests” (c) Henry Kissinger :eagerness:

But, as i’ve said before – it was a joke, in its basis. I doubt Turkey will buy our SAMs in the foreseeable future.

And… Why do Turkey needs S400´s?! To fight whom?

Well…maybe against its today’s allies, who, many years later, may decide that Erdogan’s regime isn’t democratic enough and should be ‘democratized’ and replaced via another one “Freedom to ” operation? 😀 Of course, it’s, mostly, a joke, but…honestly – you never know, who may appear next, in the bombsights of the Golden Billion…woops, i mean…Free World.

Great if true. MIG + UAE $ may deliver, just like it was in case of Pantsir-S1, initially designed for UAE money too.

F/A-18E/F, of course. The most mass produced, combat proven and equipped with AESA radar and whole bunch of the latest weapons and targeting/recce systems.
