Uh? F-22 are stationed South in the Gulf States, so why in the hell there would be a connection with them?

    That’s why: https://theaviationist.com/2016/08/20/syrian-su-24s-attempting-to-fly-close-to-u-s-special-forces-in-syria-get-intercepted-and-encouraged-to-leave-by-f-22-raptors/

Thumb of rule; Jane’s is horrible 99% of the time. I am sure they were great back in the day, but that is clearly not the case anymore. This is obviously not an exception to the 99% rule considering how much moronic nonsense there was in that video.

    +1

This “analisys” is the same pure bull****, as this article was. Of course, the program has experienced some lag, but where the hell they took this “2024 blk.2” nonsense?! and what is a “Block 2”???

I don’t care about ducks, what in the world is that mockup @ 18:06 in the video? Must’ve somehow missed that concept.

+1 I’ve noticed it too and very interested to know: what’s this?

Given the fact UAC and RuAF moved LRIP to 2018, we won’t get any significant news in the coming weeks.

But here is an interesting news about ‘Okhotnik'(Hunter) system which is under development by KRET.

    G-Translate:

Russian fighter of the 5th generation of the T-50 will be equipped with the latest image processing system, “Hunter”, which allows to detect a greater range of targets, the press-service of “Concern” Radio-electronic technology ” (KRET, is included in “Rostec”).

“Under way is developing video processing equipment for one of the opto-electronic station T-50”, – said in a statement.

The system of “Hunter” is intended for use in the review and the sighting of optoelectronic systems of helicopters, airplanes and other objects of arms, military and special equipment. These products solve the problem of electronic image stabilization, automatic detection and tracking of targets, as well as the increase in half to two times the range of detection of objects in difficult conditions of vision “, – said in a statement.

“Over the past few years have been created more than a dozen product options” Hunter “for the Mi-28N helicopters, Mi-8 and Ka-52 family of aircraft” Su “, artillery systems, warships, anti-tank systems, as well as for a number of antiaircraft rocket gun complexes “, – stated in the press service KRET.

Products family “Hunter” served as the basis for the creation of enterprises KRET optoelectronic stations for anti-aircraft missiles and medium-range. Multifunctional image processing system in these optoelectronic stations are the backbone core of intelligent, decisive problem of detection, auto-tracking purposes, and their management. In addition, the system includes electronic modules with TV and IR sensors, display means and interface information as well as control panels and laser rangefinder.

Actually that was never the myth, the point was that cessna was flying slow and radar coverage was intermittent. The reason it was not deemed a threat or targeted was for the point I was making: First, the Cessna was moving too slow to be a military target, it was ignored by some Radar and even when detected was written off by the radar operators. Even when manned interceptors were sent, positive ID was not made. He flew through several AD sectors with intermittent contact, tracking lost him several times before he reached Moscow. This was in the most heavily defended airspace in the world……. No system is perfect.

It WAS and IS a myth. Later, two officers(lieutenant-colonel Karpets and major Tchernykh), were charged and sentenced for 5 years of jail for “inaction towards intruder of the State Border of Soviet Union”. Any other stories is just a fantasy.

Here is the real story published in the journal “Aerospace Defense”: http://www.vko.ru/istoriya/ostrota-vospriyatiya-vozdushnoy-obstanovki

    Worked for Mathias Rust.

It’s a myth that Rust wasn’t detected by Soviet AD.

Now you, guys, should make one little thing – demonstrate some facts that are proving original assumption that light helicopters like Tiger, Rooivalk, Mangusta or LCH have any significant advantage in maneuverability which will effectively increase thier survivability in the area with advanced AD.

But TBH, this original assumption is false. Sensors, weapons and ECM – this is what really increase survivability of attack chopper. Not their tiny size.

Velocity is not everything, hardened cap of small diameter vs seeker head on missile. Which one would you say is designed to penetrate?

In ASM, the role of penetrator plays not seeker, but a hardened warhead/penetrator behind it. Like that one i posted on the previous page.
