… you’re slowly getting boring with this..
You already became. Better, go read something about modern missile systems, their principles of work and tactics of their combat application.
You’ve provided nothing.. The partial technical details of yours might be correct but your conclusion is still wrong. In order not to lose track regd. the original topic discussed – you were complaining about lack of f&f ATGMs (#542) in the arsenal of Russian Army.. The whole topic is not about whether f&f is better than semi-active guided stuff (that is quite obvious), but whether it’s essential and worth the 5x higher cost.. As a matter of fact, it obviously is not since I don’t see your army breaking their necks to get some.. And no amount of your arrogant rant will change anything on that.. Deal with it..
Another one “cool story” from the person who don’t know even basics.
Found Aaz’s post.
Actually, he was telling it to you. Strange that you missed it.
EDIT: TL;DR translation: Kalinin’s factory is working three-shifts to replenish Kalibrs. KTRV was told to increase production tempo back in February.
I can’t remember everything, but it doesn’t change the fact that few month before intervention to Syria KTRV has recieved the order to intensify production.
I couldn’t find anything specifically linking those news reports with the lack of KAB-500S. AFAIK KTRV includes huge variety of companies that produce much more than just guided bombs.
I remember reading something on airbase about this report but there was nothing about KABs there. You are the first one to mention them in this context.
I didn’t talk about KAB-500S specifically – i talked about PGM in general. But of course, it’s included the newest KAB-500S and KAB-1500LG in the first place. We have more than enough of the old Kh-25/29L since Soviet times – no need to work so hard to deliver another bunch of these oldies.
On the claim that KTRV had to work “24/7 mode to deliver” KAB-500S (?) “to this small expeditionary corps in Khmeimim”.
Source. Additionally, you can go to airbase.ru forums and ask its member with a nickname ‘Конструктор’. He’s a well-known and respected employee of KTRV.
Show me a single conflict of today where they are facing “battlefield full of SHORAD and MANPADS”.
Read our Military Doctrine. It will show you what types of threats and conflicts our military sees as highly possible.
Oh, that really persuaded me.. A large scale conventional NATO vs. Russia conflict is unthinkable, anyway, why prepare for it?
Ask those who wrote our Doctrine and organizing, every fckn year, large-scale strategic exercises like Zapad and Vostok with a “full-scale war between the major powers” scenario.
You haven’t disproven sh!t, you have not even provided a meaningful reaction..
I provided all what you need, including the basics about discussed systems that you weren’t aware of. Not my problem that you can’t absorb even this basic knowledge.
Sources?
Sources on what?
Yes, you are too close. And no, that does not render the Longbow “useless” in general. It just renders your notion of using attack helos against SHORAD as dangerous and improper.. There are other platforms dealing with this type of threat.
Show me, where i said about “using attack helos against SHORAD”. What i really said is that modern attack helicopters will face the battlefield full of SHORAD and MANPAD. and in such dangerous environment the best solution is to minimize the time they’re staying in the LOS of enemy AD-assets, or even better, stay out of it completely.
Your “strawman” argument has nothing to do with my real words.
Getting prepared for columns of NATO tanks streaming into Russia equals to getting prepared for another epidemic of pestilence.. I give it 0.01% that it can happen, but the priorities are elsewhere..
You saw these videos. Deal with it. And read our Military Doctrine, finally.
Disprove my claims, first.. In my response #619 I have provided you with an explanation of why Russians are happy even with 90’s era Vikhrs and Atakas.. Now it’s your turn..
In your post 619 you just wrote another one nonsense, which i already disproved. You even don’t know the basics about discussed systems.
AGM-114 Hellfire L is an active radar guided fire and forget missile. Other variants are laser guided. It is NOT an ARH missile.
Google is your friend.
Excuse me, i misunderstood your post. You’re completely right.
BTW, IIRC, according to the old article published in our “Foreign Military Review”(an official Russian MoD monthly journal) – Longbow FCR+missile system increase attack helicopter’s combat effectiveness and survivability in 2,7 times. Will try to find it in my archive.
Where have I said that Longbow (or Arbalet) radar did not make any sense?
Right there, where you tried to imply that AN/APG-78 is useless because you’re “too close”. But there is a huge difference, roaming in AD range for seconds or for minutes. That’s what you can’t understand or pretend you don’t understand this simple fact.
Doctrinally, such feature is a cold war dinosaur if you ask me.. The times of the ideas of tank columns streaming through Germany ended 20 years ago..
This is simply untrue. Armoured columns and battle orders/lines/formations are still here.
You really need to do something about your attitude, dude..
Get some knowledge, before.
So, having onboard all-weather sensor which can track up to 100 targets, deliver firing-solutions for 16 of them and capable to rapid detect radar SAMs with a help of RFI(Radar Frequency Interferometer) integrated with FCR – doesn’t make sense for you?!!! 😮
Ok
BTW, how do your think, why is the number of firing-solutions which AN/APG-78 can provide simultaneously is equal to the maximum number of Hellfire missiles on the Longbow’s hardpoints? Do you really think it’s some sort of coincidence?!
Man, just…read something on this subject. Please.
That means it can be launched even from a radar-less platform, then and is not necessarily coupled to Longbow radar.. Is this correct?
Theoretically, yes. But practically, it’s like using RVV-SD, AMRAAM or Meteor on the platform without radar. Stupid and ineffective.
@Msphere
You completely don’t understand how Hellfire Longbow really works. It’s an ARH missile. Deal with it.
well, the latest one with that fancy box airframe.

It’s still under development.
