    Thank you, sir.

    You’re welcome.)

1; Yes, MiG-31’s were limited to fairly low M number because of the age of the canopies. Their lifetime has been extended like 3 times.

2; All MiG-31BSM’s have been delivered with new canopies, the speed caps have been lifted on those.

3; Refurbished “vanilla” MiG-31’s have been getting them too.

It is probable that previous MiG-31BM’s will be outfitted with new canopies too if they are able to produce enough to cover BSM’s, refurbished MiG-31’s and for BM’s.

Is this official or some rumours from insiders? Wasn’t aware of such significant change in situation.

Yes 5T i should have mentioned or just 5000 kg of Weapon

TBH, it’s hard for me to imagine a reasonable combat paylod of that weight at any aircraft of the MIG-29 family.

    MiG-35 or MiG-29K / KUB:

    without tank – 2000 km
    1 x 2000 liters. – 2600 km
    2 x 1150 liters. – 2700 km
    3 of the tank – 3300 km
    4 of the tank – 3400 km
    5 tanks – 4000 km

    unofficial data

Two-seat versions have slightly lesser range. For obvious reason. Here is official data: http://www.migavia.ru/index.php/en/production/new-unified-family-of-the-fighters/mig-29m-mig-29m2

Can you please post a source? Not saying i don’t believe you.

Only if you understand Russian. Bondarev’s speech is starting at 53:10. Words about real MIG-31 speed at 58:33. Actually, he’s talking about many problems of MIG-31 – glass is just one of them.

P.S. Bondarev is a real man. Not every high-ranking officer or government’s official could say so honestly about real problems in our country and army. Most of them are like that clown Rogozin.

Does this also Apply to the soon to be 120-130 Mig-31BM’s?

Yes. Coz we lost production technology of that particullar glass after USSR collapse and still are working on its re-invention. Same story as with many Saturn-5 technologies that US lost due to time and natural loss of specialists who worked on original project. But again, our industry currently is working to re-invent this glass or made its analogue.

MIG-31 engines are much more powerfull than F-15C engines. The size of radar is much bigger. i presume the upgrades to MIG-31BM would have lighten the airframe for much higher speed and range.

According to statement of the current head of RuAF Bondarev that he made at paliament hearings about further MIG-31 fate in April 2013, currently, speed of MIG-31 is limited to Mach 1,5 due to age and state of its canopy glass.

Nobody knows, actually – probably Mach 2.8 is a speed-limit due to thermal limit of the airframe. The book “Russian air-defense aviation and the scientific and technical progress” tells that combat/intercept radius of MIG-31 at speed of Mach 2.35 equals to 720km.

Apparently MOD is ordering land based Redut-Poliment complex.

It’s not a complex itself. Just a land based equipment for transportation and loading/unloading of missiles into the ships VLS.

Pak-fA is built with much stronger materials to deal with monstrous thrust and high altitude.

    Cool story. LOL

yup. much more creidble than any one else. and his statement was backed years later by another airforce head.

Nope. Just like statements of any other politician. And you’re pretty…hmmm, let’s say… naive, if you believe to such statements of polititcians, especially in subject of weapon systems.

materials are blamed for reducing topspeed. where there is no such thing.

Who told you that PAK FA’s hull made with the same share and type of composites as Su-35 and MIG-35?

    not every statement are credibl.

here is more credible and newrer information the person who has ability to fire chief designer if the fighter does not perform and has inside intelligence reporting to him not take statements on face value.
    http://www.defensetech.org/2010/06/18/putin-declares-new-russian-built-pak-fa-stealth-fighter-better-than-f-22-raptor/

Putin as credible source on combat aviation?! Ok, LOL.

This further backed up by MIG-35/SU-35 not reducing top speed.

How these two are related to PAK FA?!
