Letting go of hatred and using those resources for more productive ends isn’t a loss, but a gain. The problem, of course, is that there’s never any shortage of those willing to stoke the fires, even — or perhaps especially — when their own world is collapsing around them.

P.S. If you’re worried about surrendering to anyone, maybe look at what EU bankers are doing to your country.

Not really; they’re both ******. Palestinians because they can’t resist the tyranny of Israel, and the Israelis because this whole enterprise is steadily stripping away the dignity of the Jewish people. A state is a merciless beast with a logic entirely of its own, and it is consuming the Jews.

It is not my own country.

And again I don’t see you making any realistic proposals. A nation/country cannot exist without a means to defend itself. That much is historically evident, hence your suggestions can only be viewed as unrealistic or just a taunt.

Your hatred towards EU bankers although not unfounded, it is without merit because you do not address it in a global scale but rather isolate it as if the bankers are only doing it to Greece!

    @Rii

My friend Nietzsche once wrote that:
“None of the recurrent enemies had the fortune to discover the hemlock, which could forever be rid of the Greeks!”

you are addressing these naive (forgive me but that is what they are) thoughts to the Greeks? Do you think it is the first time Greeks faced economic struggles or poverty? There isn’t a single turn in its thousands of years of history that Greeks surrendered against ANY enemy no matter how strong!

Your probably don’t understand things very well, perhaps you have some equally good suggestions for the Israelis and the Palestinians ?

We need to be realistic first of all and you and Sintra haven’t been in this thread.

    With all due respect.

No, that’s what you seem to believe. In your world, if Greece doesn’t keep up then Turkey will attack. Well, Greece isn’t going to keep up; in case you haven’t noticed the country is broke whilst Turkey moves from strength-to-strength.

    I seem to believe?

Have you been keeping up with current events? Do you know what a Casus belli is ? Do you know that Greece is the only european western country threatened by one?

If Greece was to disband her military on any given Monday, it would not exist as a country by Friday the same week!

If you are not convinced by my words, read a bit of contemporary history of balkan affairs.

Hard to defend the wisdom of Greek policy when the country is circling the drain and wouldn’t be if policy had been otherwise.

Still, hardly surprising that short term expediency (in this case unsustainable military spending) took precedence over long-term responsible governance. It’s a structural flaw in most democratic nations.

Imagine you have a house. A modest house, with your very little possessions.

Now imagine that (for whatever reason, but even if you were foolish, with your finances) you are becoming very very poor. No also imagine that your next door neighbour has told you that he will kill you and take away your house and now you are weak it is all the more easy.

What would you do? Spend your last few dollars wisely to get your finances in order or buy a gun to protect yourself from the guy who wants to take your house?

unless you are a firm believer of the idea that since Greeks were “careless” with their economy they should now suffer the loss of large parts of their country to an invader!

    which is it?

Not to put too fine a point on it, but even if they could maintain 4% of GDP on military spending — which they evidently can’t — Turkey is going to run away from them over the coming decades anyway.

Maybe Greek strategic forecasters should’ve urged resolving longstanding issues whilst Greece still had reasonable standing to negotiate from.

They never tried to beat Turkey in the arms race. Just maintain a military strong enough to make (Turkey) possible enemies think twice. That is far from being unreasonable.

My post here of some relevance I think.

Greece’s borders don’t actually include Belgium and Austria!

They are constantly being threatened by Turkey. Greece needs a stronger than average military

According to forum where I read the rumour, the speculation was that frigates involved were new Aquitaine-Class (FREMM) which would be leased to Greece as opposed to being delivered to French Navy.

No idea how reliable this rumour is. Greece isn’t exactly in a position to introduce new equipment.

The rumour is solid. Greece will lease at least two FREMM straight from the shipyard which were aimed to be for the French navy. These will be probably the third and fifth ship in the production line as the fourth is going to Morocco.

Packaged with this deal are the Atlantiques. 4 of them I think.

the P-3 have been withdrawn as they have reached the limit of their frames.

F-4 can be effective as interceptor vs cruise missiles & bombers,
and even strike a/c without air cover,
but what are the odds in air dominance vs EF/Su-35 ?
-a miss-use in the order of treachery !

Why? With the AN/APG-65 it is as effective as the F-18 at long range. Presumably it can attack the same targets. Point is to keep it away from close combat.

    With 6 AiM-120s, 4 AiM-9s and 3 fuel tanks the F4 -AUP is a formidable weapons platform.

When it comes to WVR fight obviously they are at a disadvantage, but use mixed packages and they can be lethal.

Well the Greek AF used the F1 for many many years as its primary fighter against the Turkish F4 and they maintain that dominated the skies with it in mock dogfights.

Also the Greek AF F4 AUP I believe are the pinnacle of F4 development as they have the F-18 radar and can carry all AA and AG weapons of the F-16, F-18 and a multitude of Israeli made AG weapons.

    Su-27 first flew in 1977.
    Su-47 first flew in 1997
    T-50 first flew in 201, most likely – Su-5

when did the Su-25 first fly ?

    or the su-22 ?

I think there is a point that many people simple can’t get.

    The T-50 has RCS hotspots!

    That means:

    1.The designers didn’t care!
    2.The designers couldn’t do different!
    3.The designers solved otherwise!

There is no two ways about it. That is the end of story and nothing else in my humble opinion.

Jo Asakura is in favour of point 3. personally, I want to support 3, but I lean towards 1. Others simply trust in God of aviation …

    😉

Nice work finding actual values, but still, is it enough to compensate for the beam aspect shaping issues? The answer is “most likely not”, and shape is still paramount to stealth.

Below is an lower hemisphere RCS simulation of two 50cm axial coss sections including the problem child inner nacelle and the rear engine section with its poorly angled cylindrical outer surface. Both tests done at 10GHz and models are to scale.

The red areas signify where stealth is most important to remain hidden from radars at an operationally significant range.

Unfortunately, other stealth aircraft cross sections I simulated (F-22, F-35, J-20, J-31) using exactly the same conditions came back with an RCS -20 or -30 dBsm smaller.

With knowledge of this material’s capability I can now see how people can say the F-35 is all aspect stealth, but the PAK FA is still at risk of being tracked by radars out to around 190km for minutes at a time. I copped some stick for predicting it is a defensive, denial of access only fighter, but it’s looking more and more likely.

Before anyone says it (cookie for the first “genius” to complain about it), no, the inner surface join on the 3d shape is not exactly the same as the real deal, but that’s irrelavent as the outer surface is the problem.

wouldn’t your model have increased figures due to edge defraction at the edges of the section?

    I see,

so you are inferring that the coating is bonded during the manufacturing of the structures? Does this mean it is already flying with the prototypes?

I still think that 10mm is deep, but sounds more applicable than 30mm.
Are you theorising that the material is going to be applied as a general coating or is it intended for specific places such as the intake?

    Update:

3mm now sounds a lot more like it! Is this about the new generation of the material or is it still the one applied to the Su-35?
