Oh, shame. Better throw it away then. 😀
Isn’t that exactly what the RAF did with the last one they had?
This would appear to be a data plate from a sub-component, giving order number, drawing number and aircraft type, so not much use in identifying the aircraft’s Werk Nr
Do they plan to go back down and see if there are any more sizable chunks to recover?
Will it be at Le………….
I’ll get me coat.
None of which mattered a jot in the scheme of things. The Argentinians were never going to withdraw voluntarily, the British were always going to have to invade, and occupy Port Stanley itself, to dislodge them.
I think that’s it, 5 flyers, one parked at PSAM, plus the one being done by Hinton for Slattery at Chino, plus one part-restored in the late Merle Maine’s collection in Oregon. Kermit has a part-restored one that is not being actively worked on. The rest are in museums at Chino, Pensacola and Pima. A dozen survivors in all.
Good to see another one in the air again Rick.
BTW, Tillamook doesn’t have one, and the Pond one at Palm Springs hasn’t flown for at least the last 7 or 8 years.
As for the TVOC placing a block in the way of others obtaining finance, I doubt this is the case, they all have the same opportunity to raise finance in the market place and though pubic donations, that they might not be as successful in this is not the fault of the TVOC.
I think the issue, rather than “TVOC placing a block in the way of others obtaining finance” directly, is that airshow organisers are blowing a huge portion of their available discretionary spend for booking acts on the Vulcan, leaving them little for other acts to the detriment of, in particular, other classic jet operators (such as the Sea Vixen).
They seem fixated on scraping the poor thing if she cannot fly!
I thought they had a huge queue of wealthy Americans banging on their door on a regular basis, waving fistfuls of $100 bills and desperate to bring the Vulcan to the US?
Sad news, my commiserations to the myriad of other classic jet operators in the UK. 🙁
Whatever happened to the MiG-17 that floated around between Duxford, North Weald and Bournemouth? Where did that one end up?
Are the RAF still planning a Tutor display in 2013? I thought that had been abandoned for this year due to the type’s grounding following its rather unfortunate propensity to shed prop blades in flight.
“Jump jump John”.
Did we ever find out what was said by Tim Manna during his lecture on the subject in the US recently?
