I don’t think it has flown in a while David. The only currently flying DH twin biplane in North America that I know of is Yagen’s Rapide.
The only flying Dragon in Europe is the Irish one, isn’t it??
There is also G-ECAN currently flying, plus another example under restoration in southern England.

For now, some of the information can be accessed at http://web.archive.org/web/20121016080822/http://www.goldenyears.ukf.net/ I suggest you download and save what you can before it too disappears for ever.
That’s why I prefer proper books, made of paper, which last for centuries. A shame, Goldenyears was a very useful resource. I was looking for it myself a couple of weeks back, and wondered where it had gone.
I’ve seen them fire one of the 88s, which I think were restored by the same shop as the V2.
There was a lot of V1 and V2 stuff recovered from underground factories in the former east after the fall of the Berlin wall. Some of those exported to American collections have come from there – including both of the FHC examples.
Bruce,
Is this where the FHC V2 parts came from too?
I’m not sure they need a permit to carry out the flight. What makes you think they do? And who from?
A few years ago now, I spent a very pleasant evening wandering the old airfield at Nuthampstead followed by dinner at the Woodman Inn. A surprising amount still remained of the airfield, including taxiways. I wonder if that B-17 Tokyo tank is still sticking out of a pond there?
And a Lysander !
Really? Where did that come from?
They have an impressive British collection there, as well as the Shack, Gnat Lightning and Gannet they have examples of the Jet Provost, Bolingbroke, Viscount, Hunter, Vampire, Hunter, Tornado and Harrier. More than many UK museums (although they do lack the mandatory Flying Flea!)
It was effectively destroyed AFAIK
Wasn’t there a Hampden destroyed at the same time?
The main reasons was the change from US-reg to Dutch-reg
Wow, they must have been using a very, very small paintbrush indeed if it took them 4 years to paint out ‘N320SQ’ and paint ‘PH-XXV’ in its place, all in letters about 2 inches high! ๐

A shame they don’t run the ‘guess the height’ contest to win a flight any longer ๐
