How many F3s have been preserved in museums? There’s one at Vigna di Valle, one at Hendon, one at East Fortune, plus gate guards at Leuchars and Coningsby. Any others?
Bumped up for a bit more attention.
If nobody answers, I have to go to theaerodrome.com! This won’t boost your reputation here!:diablo:
Regards, RT
You’d probably do better there, as you’re more likely to get an answer identifying an American aeroplane (I believe they call them ‘airplanes’ or some such) on a predominantly US forum.
It is a complete Mystery what Ships they still have! 😉
No DC-6s or Herons flying in the UK for at least the past 5 years.
There’s a (re-engined) Heron in Sweden, and the Red Bull DC-6 in Austria. Anything else in Europe?
I suspect it will come back. A VC10 isn’t something you can just park up and abandon in these environmentally-conscious times.
You do not state if they are signed or have the certificates of authenticity with them as these will fetch a bit more money.
The OP is referring to “original aviation paintings”, not prints
As the former G-ACDD wouldn’t this make a superb maintainable addition to Shuttleworth!
They don’t bloody deserve it, after what they did with the (donated) Hornet Moth
Who is the pilot in the centre of the picture?
The guy at the bottom right looks a bit shifty. Whatever happened to him?
I would guess Airspace have looked into getting one? Ideal with their new Varsity…
AirSpace is at Duxford. I presume you mean Classic Air Force? Confusing I know, as the Coventry (now Newquay) lot seem to change their name every year.
Thanks for the report mikeeepannell.
I thought you’d be along sooner or later to mention the SPAD Baldeagle. 😉
Does the Museum still have the D.VII? I know the D.VIII was sold on recently.
Unbroken is indeed a fascinating book. Zamperini was the guest speaker at one of the Planes of Fame events at Chino a year or so back, sadly I was unable to make it. I’d recommend the book to anyone, whether an aviation aficionado or not, as a great story of one man’s will to survive against overwhelming odds.
I would suspect that the realistic chances of seeing a Guardian in the air once again died along with Jimmy Leeward 🙁
He had N9995Z at his airfield in Florida, with the intention of restoring it to fly.

“The aircraft is currently located at Coventry Airport. If you can help us with a donation, we hope to be able to bring it to Newquay for you to explore.”
When did the first TFC Gladiator restoration fly and how many displays / flights did she have.
July 2008, for two flights only.

….which doesn’t actually answer the opening question at all. 🙂
