I doubt a national collection such as Hendon or the NMUSAF would be interested in having their Ju88 restored to fly. Having a flying exhibit falls outside their remit, and risks losing the artifact in an accident. The only chance of seeing one fly would be for a private collector with very, very deep pockets and a long timescale in mind to acquire one of the Norwegian recoveries.

I know if I had a spare million I would love to invest it in getting a JU88 Back in the air again.

Get another nine investors lined up with a similar sum available, and you might get close to the sum required.

Isn’t there a Beaufort under restoration to flight in Oz?

    A Luftwaffe one? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Except all the airworthy (indeed, all the surviving) examples are configured as transports, not bombers.

There are a number of Luftwaffe bombers still airworthy, both in the original German built version and later licence built versions….

    I presume you’re talking about Ju52s?

There’s a two-seater 262 with Collings, ‘conversion’ versions (can be changed to either two-seat or single-seat configuration fairly quickly) with EADS in Germany and Jerry Yagen, and a static single-seater in the Evergreen museum. The final one (also a two-seater) is still in the workshop at Paine Field, awaiting a customer before it is completed.

One of the CASAs was kept airworthy with the CAF, but was sadly lost in a fatal accident a decade or so back. The other airworthy one, with the Cavanaugh Museum in Texas, was grounded due to its rarity.

As regards the 262s, four were completed (three to airworthy condition) with the fifth (a two-seater) still available.

When is the final close date for the Coventry Air Atlantique/Classic Flight/Classic Aircraft Trust/Airbase/Classic Air Force/(insert this week’s choice of name) operation?

Any Wasp in particular? There are six examples currently registered in the UK, as well as quite a few other preserved examples.

Apparently there is a rather large gap, representing 120 airframes, that now needs to be filled in the Mk XIV section. ๐Ÿ™‚

    La Fertรฉ-Alais.

Last time I went was 2002, but if it’s still that good it belongs in the top 10.

It’s still pretty good Andrew, but they cut it back from an all-day show to afternoon only a few years ago. Good enough for me to be making the trip again in May though. ๐Ÿ™‚

I watched the credits at the end – and the BBC Copyright was MMVII – 2007.

    So not exactly new……

    But interesting

    Ken

I suspect you misread MMXII, as they talked about a recent rescue involving Prince William from last summer.
