I’m very impressed with the news of progress on the playground, but hugely disappointed in the lack of recent updates and photos on the Duxford tractor fleet. I think I’ll have to make a visit this weekend to check up on them for myself! 🙂
Or you could just visit Duxford and see the same line-up! 🙂
It must be the most ‘rebuilt’ project in the history of IWM Duxford. From next to the Superhanger, to down bedside the old armoury (now the entrance & shop) to its present location, to ‘present location mark II’.
A sense of perspective is needed . The U.K has one Vickers Viking -that is outside at Brooklands. The space taken up by the Amiot AAC.1 would house the Viking at Duxford.
AFAIK there is no plan to move the Viking to Duxford, so I am at a totally loss to understand the relevance of this comment.

Surely the whole point of WWI aeroplanes is that they were powered by rotary engines? Otherwise you might just as well make the whole thing from modern materials and have done with it.

Besides, how many German a/c would that leave in the collection other than the FW190?
I think the only genuine Luftwaffe aircraft left in the IWM collection will be the He162 (hardly a significant type) and the rather odd part-restored Bf109E.

Just this morning heard that a Vega Gull rebuild project has had an export license agreed and is returning soon to the UK for rebuild to flight status. Little by little airworthy wooden Percival’s are on the increase!
Excellent, excellent news! 🙂
Does anyone have any details of the book that is being launched?

Mods, any chance of combining these threads please?
We’re in danger of having the whole first page filled with “Mystery panel” threads.

Howvever, the American mindset is slightly different. They love to plaster stars-and-bars on everything in sight. Jet Provosts, L-39s, Fouga Magisters, F4U-7s, Navions, even the airport cat! 🙂
