Perhaps the 1500 hrs on type refers to all his warbird experience. As that Hurricane only first flew after restoration a couple of years ago I can’t think that he’d already done 1500 hrs on it.
The CAA database on G-INFO shows that the Hurricane had done 67 hours total time up to 31/12/10

Isn’t there also an issue with corrosive dust from the concrete structure affecting the exhibits?

The AAM was/is a bad idea, I bet someone somewhere is regretting it.
I very much doubt that, it provides a significant source of revenue for the museum, with a major ongoing fundraising campaign in the US.

That is indeed very sad news.
Looking forward to 2013 when they back up to full strength.
I do hope that happens, but really wonder whether we’ll end up with a 6-ship display team in a year or two as a cost-saving measure.
Thanks all for your input
Note: standard British painting (Dark Green/Ocean Grey/Light Grey).
I find this unlikely, as the Bulgarian AF ‘dataplate’ stencil has been retained on the rear fuselage.
Hi I’m really interested in join the trust if you can?
Have you got a link to sign up or make a donation?
Cheers Howard500
Interesting, thank you very much! 🙂
So what precisely are they raising funds for? This all sounds a bit dodgy to me. They have come up with no project plan as such as far as I’m aware, have identified no airframe as a possibility for rebuild, and are now asking for donations? Since there seems to be no formal organisation set up yet, presumably it is one or more individuals collecting the money? Hmmm……..
Nice! Now all we need is a Snipe to complete the Sopwith set.
I believe the damage was done during the Hahnweide weekend when it was caught in the eflux from an airliner at Frankfurt airport whilst the Rapide was being used as a shuttle between Hahnweide and Frankfurt. I’m not sure how serious the damage was or whether it has been repaired.
Hope not as I flew on it last year! 🙂
Before or after Hahnweide?
Any signt of the wildcat tailplanes or engine?
I believe the engine and prop are being overhauled in the US
