It was brought over to France in 2009, but additional work required by the French authorities before they would allow it to fly there precluded an appearance at La Ferte. However, it was subsequently flown at a couple of smaller fly-ins after being displayed in the static park at Le Bourget.
Now safely back home in California 🙂

The pilot found himself sitting substantially lower…on a bent elevator connecting rod with the spade grip closer to his chin than is normal.

And the aeroplane concerned received a fair amount of TLC the following winter.
The Vampire looks far to clean for me.

I don’t know, Totternhoe to Duxford doesn’t seem too far to travel if you wish to clean it. 🙂
Is there a market for these beautiful aeroplanes?
Not at the price that the cost of restoration demands, if the Demon is anything to go by.
Wasn’t there also a plan to set up a Hind ‘production line’ to rebuild the Afghan recoveries?
Hart?
Some very nice shots from a great and very friendly museum. They’ve come a long way in a short time since opening a few years ago. Good catch with the CH-53 arrival.
How is the restoration of the control tower progressing?
The Zero is not really ‘airworthy’, it is a Bob Diemart ‘restoration’ and was grounded by the CAF some years back due to a multitude of issues with its structural integrity.
Will they be used on a sea fury or are they just spares waiting to be put away?
Apparently they are awaiting clearance from the CAA to configure the aircraft as the rare quadricycle variant of the Sea Fury.

There’s one preserved at the Airline History Museum at Kansas City Downtown Airport. I’ve got some photos I’ll post up when I’m home at the weekend if anyone’s interested.
It was a long time ago……!
Ssssssh! I’m sure it can’t have been more than 5 or 6 years ago. 😮
Happy to be corrected but i dont remember any Sea Hawks being used in the lineup.
Vampires and a T-33 IIRC

One thing is amazing though. A thread about spelling and we haven’t heard from James:D
Last heard from heading to the land of the long white cloud, so I can only assume that he’s been eaten by a Hobbit or some such! 🙂
Or perhaps been run down by an Anson…………….
