Wasn’t that at Mildenhall, and the aircraft was undamaged IIRC
christ must have been ten years ago
I always thought he was nearer 2,000 years ago.
One or two were earmarked to go to Australia in the failed A-20 deal, so presumably they are now available again for trade
Did the PR.XIX go back out to the Middle East?
The first time I saw it, many years ago, it was outside the entrance to the display ‘hangAr’ and definitely painted in white and darkish Blue. Someone will have a pic. I’m sure.
Are you referring to the Wyvern or Supermarine 510/517?
The only blue and white aircraft on outside display that I can recall at the FAA Museum was the NA.39 (Buccaneer prototype)
At the behest of the IWM themselves, not the NMUSAF.
And they are not going to the USAF but the Museum, a separate entity in the same way that the RAF Museum is not the same thing as the RAF. I know that the F-35 programme is suffering delays, but I don’t think that the USAF are quite that desperate!
Ah yes, I’d forgotten about the Hunter (funded by the US under MDAP, the Mutual Defence Assistance Programme)
I believe the B-52 is owned by the RAF Museum, and was part of a trade for 3 Vulcans that went to museums in the US. I’m pretty sure that the SR-71 is also on loan from the NMUSAF. There used to be a list on the NMUSAF website of all the aircraft in their loan program, but it seems to have been removed now.
Are there still Mysteres at Lakenheath? I remember there were 6 or 8 back in the ’80s, but ISTR they all got the chop.
M-B are registering their Meteors with the CAA. The first one took up G-JWMA last September
No, that one went to New Zealand then Australia
…don’t be surprised if the Orpheus and Spey are added too.
Are there any operational Speys under CAA jurisdiction? In any case, I would assume that they would have OEM support as the AMX programme is still ongoing.
What makes you think it will necessarily remain airworthy? The last batch of historic aircraft that went to Jordan for the Historic Flight there were soon parked up.
XL577 has now been cancelled from the CAA register this week as it has been sold to Jordan
Because at the end of the consultation period (in just over 2 weeks) the petition will be redundant.
Far better to encourage people to respond to the CAA directly using the line form at http://publicapps.caa.co.uk/modalapplication.aspx?appid=58 and to write to their MP than forlornly pin their hopes on an online petition.
Another 5 1/2 months?
